The Rapparees man took charge of four senior All-Ireland finals as well as many high profile games, he played club hurling with his local club, he was a substitute on the team which won its only senior county title in 1978, he lined out for the minor county team in the late 70's and more recently he is one of the men behind "Hawkeye".
