Replying To clooney:  "My Final Word on Clare Hurling 2021 is to compliment Brian Lohan on his service as Manager he may have done some things wrong or showed inexperience or what ever but he knows how to give an interview with a bit of class.

He was asked as a player about the Kieron Carey point in 1996 refused to indulge in self pity said Limerick deserved their win that was it.

After Cork game he complimented Cork team & management plus spoke highly of his own players no a whinge in sight & you can see that Clare Team has spirit ect.

A real pragmatist he was one of finest full backs of his generation so he deserved great credit for his time in management also"
Yes indeed. He comes across as a fine man. Knows exactly how to deal with the press after a match, is clearly a good manager and overall has been a credit to his county on and off the field

So finally we have white smoke and some common sense from our board. Lohan getting the 3 years he deserves and we need. Apparently Lohan and the secretary had a meeting over the weekend. Hopefully previous issues would have been discussed and ironed out so they wont affect lohan's management going forward.

We have the basis of a very good team, a lot may not agree. I think right now we are not much better or worse that 7 of the other top counties, there's nothing in it. Everyone is a bit off limerick, but if we can get a few things right then we wont be far away.

We need our goalkeeper to iron out the mistakes and up the efficiency of puckouts.
With duggan and o'donnell hopefully back, we should be pretty good in the forwards.
Tweaking our defence is another priority.
There's nothing lohan can do in the immediate future about the lack of talent coming through, all he can do is make the best of what he's got right now. And i think he's the right man for the job.

Replying To welpastit:  "Commiserations from your neighbours. I watched the game totally aghast at the tactics employed by Clare. The world and its mother knows that Cork don't have a half forward line to win a puck out. To make matters even more daunting for Cork Clare have a first class half back line. The more bivouac tactic for Clare would be to push up on Cotks puck out and force them to go long. Couldn't believe my eyes when for the first 15 mins and last 15 mins Clare stood off and played the game on Cork terms by allowing them to go short. In these periods Cork raced into a lead and scored 1-5 in last 10-12 mins. I think Lohan committed tactical suicide . Clare best themselves IMO."
As the post says everyone knew that Cork can't win long puckouts. Last Sunday proved that amongst other things. It was a huge tactical error for Clare and Kilkenny to stand off the Cork full back line. Corks only means of ball retention was short puckouts and Lohan as well as Cody facilitated them and I couldn't believe what I was watching. To my mind Clare are much better than Cork. With hurlers coming back with Tipp rebuilding and with possibly nee management in Waterford Clare could be in top two in Munster next year.

It's good for Clare, I think, to give Lohan 3 years more. He'll have learned from the last couple of years, and will be focused on rectifying any mistakes made.

He'd relish a crack at Limerick. He has never forgotten 1996, nor should he. A few players could come back. And, if any young aspiring player wouldn't give his all to play for Clare under Brian Lohan, I don't know who else could inspire a young lad to want to don the saffron and blue. The passion was back in the lads this year.

Best wishes for the year ahead!
