I see Brian Cody's confident of keeping all of Kilkenny's older stars next season. DryEye84 (Cavan) - Posts: 10 - 12/12/2019 16:10:01 2254453 Link 0 |

Think we would have gotten a year or 2 more out of Johnny Doyle. Nuxer Buckley another who could have gone on for a few more years. St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1700 - 12/12/2019 18:22:09 2254480 Link 3 |
Barry Coughlan a decent enough full back, may be not the greatest. Brian O Halloran again a great prospect but was played too young in the 2009 all-Ireland semi against Tipp. After was only used as an impact sub or in winter time when players were tied up in club championship. Kind of abuse.

I know O'Rourke missed out on '96 by just a year, but he was 38 when he packed it in in '95. He had played 20 years for the Meath seniors. Hard to put him in the category as having retired too early. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2042 - 13/12/2019 14:42:41 2254690 Link 0 |
Stephen O'Neill's first retirement with Tyrone, if that counts. Missed out on being a part of the 2008 All-Ireland team, rather than a late call in for the final. eoghan6688 (Galway) - Posts: 154 - 13/12/2019 15:36:41 2254698 Link 0 |

In fairness to you it was more in humor than sarcasm .

Michael Donnellan certainly but it was injury that ruled him out - still counts though. Kieran Fitzgearld is the obvious one from Galway went to to be the best fullback in senior club championship for....well prob still is! Other nominations who retired early, missed some years of their prime only to come out of retirment also include: - Ja Fallon - Michael Meehan - Gary Sice The_DOC (Galway) - Posts: 708 - 13/12/2019 17:15:11 2254715 Link 0 |

I missed it by fair margin alright. It was the equivalent of putting a 14 yard free out for a sideline, on my part.

Conor Mortimer left a few years early, had he stayed on Mayo just might have got Sam, he was always worth a few scores each game. culmore (None) - Posts: 1398 - 14/12/2019 16:58:20 2254832 Link 1 |
