Leinster Club Championship 2019

(Oldest Posts First)

Ferbane (Offaly)
St. Patrick's (Wicklow)
Portlaoise (Laois)
Eire Og (Carlow)
Castletown (Wexford)
Garrycastle (Westmeath)
Emmet Og (Longford)

Already in the competition with the Meath, Kildare, Louth and Dublin Champions to be announced.

Anyone have any predictions or know any thing about teams already through.

whoever wins Dublin will be the team to beat.
From my own county Garrycastle Won last weekend I think they have a good chance in the 1st round against Emmet Og but I don't see them going much further.

We now know the Q/F line-ups
Eire Og (CW) v Sarfields (KE)
St Patricks (WW) v Portlaoise (LS)
Garrycastle (WH) v Ratoath (MH)
Newtown Blues (LH) v Ballyboden St Endas (D)

Will anyone get near Ballyboden St Endas??

Ratoath look like a strong side and maybe the team to beat Ballboden

I predict 4 away wins this weekend:

Eire Og (CW) v Sarfields (KE)
St Patricks (WW) v Portlaoise (LS)
Garrycastle (WH) v Ratoath (MH)
Newtown Blues (LH) v Ballyboden St Endas (D)

Ballyboden probably slight favourites overall but such is club championship that you wouldn't rule out an upset or two before the provincial final. Indeed in 2015 one of Ballyboden's toughest games on their way to the All Ireland was in Drogheda v then Louth champions St Pat's and it took a late Collie Basquel goal to seal the win for them. I believe Pat's had a late goal disallowed that day too if memory serves me right.

From what I have seen it looks wide open. Yes people will rightly make Ballybodan favourites but they are not invincible and really should have been out in Dublin at the quarter final stage. They got on top earlier than their previous 2 championship games last Sunday but I thought Thomas Davis poor shooting really let them down and it was a closer game than the scoreline suggested. However I don't have a firm opinion on the challengers having limited knowledge of their form and quality of opponent within their respective counties.

Bit of an exaggeration there. He was pretty anonymous all throughout the match scoring 2 from frees and the goal was the last kick of the game. The best player on the field was colm judge closely followed by Andy McDonnell. They gave 2 master classes and suffered from a lack of physical support as ballybodens physical strength off the bench won out in the last 10 minutes.

Boden are alright. Nothing special imo.

Will win it out if none of the other sides produces though.

It's wide open for any of the teams left imo.

No one will touch Corofin though if they're on form.

Be happy enough, to keep his profile low to be honest.

Dessie Dolan not helping. ;)

Predictions for next weekends two semi finals?
I'm going to go with:

Garrycastle (WH) v Ballyboden St Endas (DB) ~ tight game Garrycastle very experience and hard to be in Mullingar but think St Endas will edge it.

Portlaoise (LS) v Eire Og (CW) ~ Live on TV on Saturday evening another tight game hopefully but I'm going to go Portlaoise

I feel like they could be on for another big year this year.
I expect Ballygunner to improve on last year too but sure lots of hurling to be played before then

I'm just wondering here if Carlow's St. Mullins (aka) Cuala had clinched a place in the leinster club hurling final who would be fancied to win the final v Ballyhale, St. Mullins {aka} Cuala, or Cuala {aka) St. Mullins, two time all Ireland winner 2017 / 2018

My money would be on Ballyhale Shamrocks, seven times all Ireland winners 1981, 1984, 1990, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2019

I will go for Ballyhale to win Leinster. Football semi finals at weekend.
Portlaoise had narrow wins in their last few matches, needed penalties to beat St. Patrick's the last day, home advantage should see them over Eire Og. Ballyboden to beat Garrycastle.
