According to Cahair Ó Kane at Irish News, Brolly won't be appearing on RTÉ GAA coverage anymore

All things run their course. Just need to get rid of Spillane now as he is as controversial a figure!

Is this confirmed anywhere?

I reckon they would have freshened it up for the replay anyway. Colm O'Rourke seems to be featuring less but sure he will probably be on the highlights show. It was easy for them to drop Brolly for the replay as he was horrendous the first day. Clear lack of manners at times. That's bad enough but to then make such a bad interpretation of the sending off having seen it many more times than Gough himself. Surely most of the country were screaming at their TV.

I'm sure he will be back. Rochford knows more about intercounty management than Brolly so is a welcome addition.

Proper order. The resident Dublin cheerleader has been removed from RTE.

Personally I think he is a legend. Does everyone think he is a legend?

Yep, he's definitely a legend.
Any chance Spillane would do a disappearing act as well. I suppose not, RTE cannot be see to progressive.

What Brolly failed to realise is that the players are Box Office, that was never his job.

Other panelists will get an opportunity to talk now without being constantly interrupted by "Hold on, hold on until I tell you what so and so (name drop) said to me". It will make Joanne's job a little easier as the panel was becoming the 'Joe show'. Tends to rehash his thoughts of the week from his Sindo article on TSG anyway so we will still know his point of view. Admire his work highlighting organ donation but it's probably time for panelists who will analyze the game in progress.

I would be really interested in getting a FOI from RTE to see whether the GAA had any contact or request with RTE in relation to this. Joe Brolly is a questioning voice that is needed within the GAA which has become more autocratic over the years. Similarly Colm O Rourke who has asked tough questions & highlighted certain issues within both the GAA & GPA & being castigated for same. We need these voices heard as it has now reached all levels within the GAA that if you put your head above the parapet to question the group think, you are a radical. Many of the issues Joe & Colm raise are very valid & serious. Major financial irregularities last year in Galway which were sent to Croke Park, yet the details were never publicly published or whether anyone was prosecuted or punished in any way. Everybody is afraid to ask the hard questions. Are Joe & Colm infallible, no. Do they make cock ups in analysis, yes. Interesting that RTE drop Joe but leave Ciaran Whelan & Pat Spillane.
RTE & the GAA will soon have all the Yes people they need as panelists all following the script.

Hopefully this is true. He only seemed to be on there to stoke controversy and wind people up. He offers nothing in terms of analysis at all. Maybe some people like that kind of thing but it's not for me personally. Hopefully he takes Spillane and Dolan with him.

Just to add when I looked back at the H/T analysis of the final I thought it was the most unprofessional piece of sports broadcasting I have ever seen. It really was pathetic. I like Whelan and would give him another chance but in my opinion joe is just a total pain in the h**e and has been for years.

Brolly isnt gone, guaranteed he will be there next year.
he did make a tool of himself 2 weeks ago in my opinion so possibly this is a way of punishment and no harm in that.
I sure I heard it somewhere that Pat Spillane is gone from TSG after this year, so a nice way for him to end his RTE career is that is the case watching his 2 nephews represent Kerry in their 1st AI finals.

He admitted he is biased. He is finished. Or at least he should be if RTE Sport have any integrity.

Sky Sports - Lyster and Brolly GAA show? RTE would be nervous at that thought.

The Sunday game is finished, I can see most people watching the actual match but doing other things during the half time break etc. Lyster is a huge miss and we didn't realise just how good a presenter he was. With the current format RTE would be safer increasing the advertisment space, increasing their revenue as a result. Good presenters take on a challenge and adapt to different personalities, getting rid of people because you can't manage that challenge doesn't look good for the show and gives an insight into what they want the Sunday game to become.

The GAA fan will suffer but in their thousands will increasingly only watch the actual match.
