Dublin V Mayo - Call It

Replying To letterkennyGuy:  "I really cannot understand the hype around Mayo. A terrible Donegal display last Saturday and they still almost win. The Championship needed Dublin v Donegal...... Intensity win it not Quality so all i can see is a Dublin win possibly 10 points +"
I cant understand any if the hype about Donegal. Who have ye actually beaten. Lost in the Super 8s the past 2 years and haven't given anything to football since 2012; and that as we know was puke football. Ye have 3 decent players in Murphy McBrearty and McHugh..... That's it. 2 of the aforementioned were marked out of the game in Castlebar. Stop whinging and take your beating.

Mayo are have a lot of players like Eoin O'Donoghue, Matthew Ruane, Fionn McDonagh, Darren Coen, James Carr, Ciaran Treacy, James Durcan, Michael Plunkett, James McCormack, Mikey Murray, Conor Diskin and Michael Schlingermann who never played championship in Croke Park in previous years. I would expect 7/8 of those lads to play some part on Sunday.

Dublin will win easy enough but it should be a good learning experience for the young lads.

Jesus lads i thought there was a thread a couple of weeks ago about the donegal supporters being the friendliest fans ever. Ye are coming across as the most bitter fans on this forum. Ye got well bet last week.......now take the beating and rebuild for next year. Let the 4 semi finalists concentrate on this weekend please.

Replying To galwayford:  "Dublin to win easily. Mayo are a spent force. They will be well beaten in the second half. They need 2 weeks to recover, and only got one. Also Croke park is Dubs home."
Doesn't bode well for Galway that a spent force is still better then them.

Replying To keithlemon:  "A few Dubs I work with, usually very cocky around their chances, are slowly but surely developing a slight fear and weariness as we get closer to Saturday.
One lad has gone from a 10 point win to being happy with a 3 point win
I reckon by tomorrow he'll be just happy with the win
For the record, this lad is the same with horses around Cheltenham. I've never played poker with him but I reckon he'd be easy to read!!

How are the rest of the Dubs on here feeling? Confident still or is there any doubt creeping in???"
I'm nervous as fek, but still think we'll win.

It's funny coming out of McHale Park last weekend I was delighted at the, to me at least, unexpected win over Donegal. Half win home I started to think what the f*** have we let ourselves in for. Six day turnaround for a team that has seemed to be on it's last legs all year, another serious injury added to the list and now we're expected to take on the mighty Dubs. We'll get hammered by twenty points. By Monday you're thinking the Dubs have had it easy all year and they won't be used to the intensity that Mayo bring and it's down to fifteen points. Wednesday Horan has been preparing for this all year and we are where we planned to be all along, it's down to ten. Listening to pillar Caffrey last night going through the Dubs team and the subs he can call on it went back up a couple of points. Thinking today a couple of the Dubs are a bit off their game this year and we have one big game in us and it's down to five or seven. The head says it has to be the Dubs but the heart...... It's the hope that kills you!

I'd give anything to win this and I'll be in Croke Park roaring myself hoarse. I don't think it's impossible for Mayo to win but looking at it as objectively as I can, all things being equal, I'd have to say Dublin by 6 or 7 points. I know well though that all logic will go out the window on Saturday morning and I'll be fully convinced that we are going to do it!

we can take our beating, no qualms with the result, mayo were better than us on saturday simple as. it's the arrogance of your supporters, booing opposition players, berating opposition players and cheering the opposing teams wides more than your own scores. Always admired the mayo team for their honesty, shame that doesn't extend to the supporters

Nonsense I was at the game, Mayo fans took exception to the off the ball stuff. Hugh McFadden was trying to act the hard man and everything spilled over after the penalty. Donegal players dragging our man on the ground.

I was behind the clubhouse goals and was equally Mayo and Donegal and there wasn 't a bad word said. Cheering wides? Is that really that disgraceful? Wouldn't happen in a Donegal v Tyrone game.......oh wait.

This is getting absolutely ridiculous from some Donegal people now.

Mayo by a point.

But ever since Mayo beat Donegal i have this awful feeling that they'll beat Dublin, however after doing the heavy lifting, lose to Kerry or Tyrone in the final.

Bit like Donegal in 2014 or you could even say a little like Mayo in 2006.

And just for the record, some Donegal fans were guilty of the things that you are whinging and crying about Mayo fans doing. Football fans in general (including Mayo fans) only see things that they want to see. The other teams fans are "the bad guys", every single negative thing is seized upon and blown out of all proportion, whereas their own team supporters are "the good guys" and are rarely seen threw the same prism, any negative things are ignored or where they are acknowledged, dismissed as a tiny minority. There is no attempt at balance or objectivity. As I say, this is all fans, including Mayo and being honest, even though I try not to, I fall into the trap the odd time myself. However at this stage it is 5 days after the game and this thread is about Dublin v Mayo, it comes across as incredibly sour grapes.

Plus our minors play cork in the curtain raiser.
Whatever happens sat eve, Mayo football keeps going and won't die....despite what many profits of doom outside Mayo keep predicting.

Mayo by the slimmest of margins if the weather is poor. If the weather is good then Dublin by 7 plus.

And we'll always love it. Supporters are like proud parents talking about their kids. Even if they do wrong we'll stick up for them and get fairly thick too when others give out about them. I think it's a similar story for most supporters of most counties because we love our own.

Hope I'm wrong but Mayo's exertions against Donegal without sufficient time to recover may go against them. A similar situation to the Galway hurlers this year who defeated KK but then faced a fresh Dublin team at home 6 days later.
