Commiserations to KK fans today; very tough day at both levels. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 18/08/2019 17:34:44 2227115 Link 2 |
Pitiful, to hear King Henry. Trying to put a spin on the sending-off. If your are a panelist, you have to take of your black and amber glasses HarryO (Galway) - Posts: 187 - 18/08/2019 17:44:09 2227121 Link 2 |
Tipperary always have class hurlers. Unfortunately they let themselves down in the interviews with their foul language. 2 separate channels and 2 separate foul language incidents. bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 18/08/2019 17:46:19 2227124 Link 1 |
Yea I thought it was pitiful, why they don't they just have neutral panellists for the final.

agree and the minor was the same, KK beaten 3 times and Galway never got out of 2nd gear, put Galway into Leinster to save the minor game, otherwise Leinster is in trouble.

Couldn't agree more. Same on the radio with the post-game commentary. Completely focused on the sending-off, and no discussion of the game itself, or mention of the fact that Tipp had already taken control of the game before the sending off. Then again, it has to be said that there's not much else to say about this final. Scoreline might have been tighter, but the victor was never in doubt. I don't see an AI vicotry in this KK team. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 18/08/2019 17:51:37 2227132 Link 0 |
Never a Red Card because... BlueBeret (Dublin) - Posts: 54 - 18/08/2019 17:55:38 2227134 Link 1 |
Stick a mic in the face of someone who has the adrenaline pumping and just won the AI, and that's what's going to happen, especially in a country where expletives are part of the common lexicon. Not the first time this has happened (step forward Johnny Glynn!) and won't be the last. I say that as someone living in the US and can go a whole week without hearing a single person ever swear; it's unnatural I tell ya.

Lets be honest about it. Bad final and heading that way before the sending off. It looked like a puck around in the second half and that does not happen usually, inspite of a numerical disadvantage.

To be fair to Callanan it was a total slip of the tongue, you could see by his reaction. Couldn't fault a Lad for that. Compare that to a colleague of his a few years ago who fully intended to swear on air. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2125 - 18/08/2019 18:30:57 2227154 Link 0 |
I would have a lot of respect for Henry but he did suggest that the decision should have been made not to send Richie off in the interest of having a better game. Is that how we want refs to operate ? You can take someone's head off knowing the ref will take no action (or just give yellow) so it will be a good game ? This nonsense from analysts and commentators needs to stop. All the players on the field decided today's winner. Especially Richie Hogan, Noel O' Dwyer, Ronan Maher and Sheamus Callanan. Not James Owen. Feel bad for Richie but a spit second bad decision and this is the result.

Clonmel is not a hurling stronghold in Tipp but I thought Seamus Kennedy of St. Mary's Clonmel was absolutely outstanding for Tipperary today.Kilkenny were the better team for the first 20 minutes but didn't score enough.Always felt after the Niall O'Meara goal that Tipp were going to win sending off or not.The Tipp full forward line is total class. It'll be interesting to see if Tipp can retain their title next year, something they haven't done since way back in 1965. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2312 - 18/08/2019 18:38:54 2227158 Link 1 |
It was a red card. 100% correct decision, the ref handled it very well, he went to his linesman to discuss it, took their time and got the right decision. Well done all. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13787 - 18/08/2019 18:51:37 2227164 Link 3 |
Tipp ran away with it in 2nd half, I felt KK just couldnt bring the intesity like they did for semi final, I felt that had more to do with Tipps tactics more than then sending off. Before tipp got their 1st goal, it was looking like KK might pull it off. They couldnt make the ball stick in the forwards in the 2nd half and their tactic of lumping high ball in to the forwards played into tipps hands. Tipp did a great job of nullyfying tj too. fireinthebelly (Galway) - Posts: 89 - 18/08/2019 18:59:02 2227168 Link 1 |
I tend not to trust people who don't use 'foul' language, the holier than thou crew are usually more false.

Well done Tipp great win pity about the red card but the ref had no choice , I don't think Richie ment to do him but it was high into the helmet. I thought the ref had a great game in very difficult conditions all Tipp's players played well but my motm was Heffernan at full back outstanding. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 18/08/2019 19:26:41 2227176 Link 2 |
Poor final but Tipp won't care about that and rightly so. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 18/08/2019 19:26:56 2227177 Link 0 |
Cockney cat suck it up kid and take your medicine. Tipp the better team by a country mile and as for the red if you live to be a 100 you will never see a more clear cut red, 110 pc red. There is always next year
