I fancy Mayo in this one, they can improve the most from all the contenders. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1820 - 21/07/2019 20:03:26 2214226 Link 3 |

Could go Mayo's way if they start with ferocious intent, but Donegal can beat them as they've more quality. Hope we get through it injury free, and win. Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1478 - 21/07/2019 20:14:50 2214232 Link 3 |

It would be very much like Mayo to absolutely demolish Donegal after a load of unconvincing performances. Ronan1989 (Donegal) - Posts: 83 - 21/07/2019 20:14:52 2214233 Link 0 |

Non sensical comment........Galway should win the all ireland next year because they have the most improving of all the counties to do. I be amazed if Donegal don't beat Mayo.

I'd have to fancy Donegal, they a class outfit ahead of Mayo, who look tired jaded and really lacking upfront. Donegal have everything, really impressed by them v Kerry and in Michael Murphy a super player. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4975 - 21/07/2019 20:32:30 2214252 Link 2 |

If it were any other county coming into this game on Mayo's form I'd bet the house on Donegal. But since it's feckin Mayo I'll only bet the car. Donegal by 5 for me. Pantani (Dublin) - Posts: 48 - 21/07/2019 20:50:01 2214265 Link 5 |

Mayo are a very weird team, I wouldn't write them off against donegal in a knockout game. They haven't set the championship alight like donegal, but todays results suits them more than Donegal. A two week rest, a home game on a Saturday evening (even though form is terrible in Castlebar), some key players returning (Diarmuid o'connor, Durkan and Higgins) and championship knockout football. I still think donegal have the advantage by 2/3 points when you take the above into consideration but there won't be a lot between them. Be a good one this ,both teams should be almost at full strength and have a much needed rest especially mayo after the amount of consecutive games ,I'm expecting a fiery encounter and i can see a much fresher mayo turn up with the energy that Durkan Higgins and Ruane brings to the team will be a huge bonus for them but I think Donegal with Murphy just have that bit more quality and I think they will get the result in a close fought game ,Donegal by 2 Galwayjoe86 (Galway) - Posts: 258 - 21/07/2019 20:57:45 2214277 Link 0 |

Can't see anything other than a Donegal win. Until today I still had questions about how good Donegal are but they answered that. Cbar (Mayo) - Posts: 388 - 21/07/2019 20:58:43 2214279 Link 2 |

Donegal have really impressed this year some absolute class players. All the questions are Mayo's to answer, on form Donegal all the way but this is Mayo and they've bounced back so many times they'll also have ferocious support behind then. With plenty Donegal fans travelling should be a great atmosphere. I really can't see beyond this Donegal team winning though reithi (Kerry) - Posts: 52 - 21/07/2019 21:11:15 2214291 Link 2 |

It's a good job people don't take your input serious.

Amazed. Well that is a serious exaggeration. The extreme nature of your posts not confined to our own forum obviously. It won't even be a mild surprise if Mayo win although Donegal's form has been very impressive. They are at home and in a one off situation like this anything can happen.

I think donegal will win but as I said above never write Mayo off in a one off knockout game. All the hype will be about donegal and their form and rightly so they have been the best team outside of Dublin this year. People are writing Mayo off again against a team that is unproven in the latter stages of the championship. Rewind back to the league Mayo took two bad defeats to Dublin and Galway then went down and beat a well fancied Kerry team in Tralee and again in the league final this was less than 4 months ago. These fellas love nothing more than hearing everyone writing them off while talking up their opposition. The media will go into overload talking about Donegal and it will play right into Mayos hands. I think on the day Murphy ,McBrearty and McHugh could be unmarkable. Rochford always has a few tricks up his sleeve also and donegal are strong on the sideline with some brilliant impact subs. Apparently AOS going into a cast in the morning after today. That said he, DOC, Ruane, durkan, and Higgins should be fit. Donegal should have lads back too bar ban Gallagher so both teams should be basically full strength- if the lads coming back will have the required sharpness etc. Mayo home record is not great and if against any other team may well prefer Crocker but have a good enough record v Donegal in Castlebar. However based on two games today Donegal have to be strong favourites. Youth, pace and experience- murphy- all over the field. Mayo looked like a team that are spent though the oldest man on the field, Andy Moran- might suggest otherwise. If mayo happened to beat Donegal, which I just can't see happening, I fear Dublin could destroy them in a semi. Either way I think it might be the last yr we see a number of elder mayo players as they don't seem to have enough young lads coming through to make the more senior players believe the holy grail is within grasp. I can see Galway- with a change of mnanager- dominating connacht for the foreseeable. Gaillimh11 (Galway) - Posts: 16 - 22/07/2019 00:14:35 2214431 Link 0 |
