Clifford isn't even going to be named as YOUNG Footballer of the Year in 2019. His teammate Sean O'Shea will win that. So where are we even going with the initial question? Clifford won't make the All-Star 15. If the All-Stars were extended to a panel of 21, he'd scrape into my panel as no. 20. Well i like both O Shea and O Sullivan as players so i might be a bit biased. I think a few from Mayo would make it, Durcan, Runane, Lee Keegan. Boyler, Harrrision, Parsons a few years ago too, a good few from Tyrone too. Actually i quite like Diarmuid O Connor too now that i think about it. Its been tough overcoming Kerry and Mayo alright, thankfully we've come out the right side me often then not, for the main prize anyway, im happy with our return certainly. I believe my description of Con's point against the Rossies to be accurate, romanticised you say, fair enough. I only used this example because it involved him using many skills in the one score. My post was in response to the Antrim poster who suggested that Con is an everyday player that you might see on any number of county teams in the coming 5 years, all I can say is not likely. Maurice Fitz, Gooch, Michael Donnellan, Canavan, Linden, Forde, superp forwards, to be appreciated whatever their county and O'Callaghan whose spatial awareness, speed, balance and focus marks him out as a special player should be appreciated too and he should not be dismissed as a bulked up "six a penny" county player as he was in the Antrim man's post. sligo joe (Dublin) - Posts: 872 - 24/10/2019 23:19:49 2245606 Link

When I say 'right now I do not actually mean on current form. What i am trying to say is that of every football player in the country, I think Clifford Is by far the best, not right this moment on current form or anything just in general, in terms of overall game, I believe his overall game is much superior than anyone else's and on his day he is most talented and for me the best. Last year or this year, whatever. My point, obviously, was that your opinion that Clifford would not win either award this year was a bit crazy seeing as he won both awards last year and has, most likely improved in the meantime. Tom O'Sullivan and Brian Howard are unlucky not to have been nominated. Con is actually still eligible for YPOTY too if I am not mistaken. Interesting that this has become a Con v Clifford debate. i think this could shape up to be the messi v ronaldo of Gaa for the next 10 years. Like comparrisons between all top players its really down to your own personal preferance. I love watching both play, Con is the most electrifying player in gaelic football. When he gets the ball there is a buzz that very few players can generate. His goals v Tyrone 3 years ago and Mayo last year were class and his point v Roscommon was astounding. He is so refreshing to watch in that he always wants to take on his man whenever there is a hint of danger. His record with dublin and Cuala in is extraordinary. David Clifford is the absoloute ice man of gaelic football. I have never seen a more hyped underage footballer and the way he has adapted seemlessly to senior football shows how cool of a customer this kid is. He has a lovely lazy languid style and watching him twist,turn and dummy hop his way by defenders and caress the ball over the bar is one of the beauties of gaelic football. Equally comfortable of left or right his scoring stats are crazy. He has become the main man in the kerry FF line. The true heir the goochs throne in the kingdom. Two completely different players that i reckon will both go down as greats of the game. I honestly would struggle to pick one over the other and will honestly just enjoy watching both play at the highest level for the next few years. That's interesting that you compare king David and con to Ronaldo and Messi but in fairness both Ronaldo and Messi played for equally great teams In Madrid and Barcelona whereas king David is playing on a very young inexperienced Kerry team right now and Connie is on a team that just won 5 in a row. When Clifford scores the highedt calibre of class scores in crucial games while playing a pivitol part on the the way to winning All Ireland's.. Then you can compare the two Until then it's King Con and Prince David Con has nothing to prove and all I've read so far regarding Clifford is a lot of assumptions and wishful thinking Con has walked the walk.
