Now tell me what would they make of that out west or up north? How are any other county supposed to motivate their players when not one panel member has a Leinster senior medal? Royal dunne makes an interesting point and one I feel we'll be bringing up more over the years. Outside of Dublin how many active players possess a Leinster championship medal? Could we for the first time in history reach a situation in a few years where only Dublin players have a medal? That would be truly farcical.

Years ago I pioneered the idea of rotating Dublin around a different province each year to keep most Leinster counties something realistic to compete for. It was laughed out the door at the time. But each passing season as Dublin stroll to another easy title and everyone else looks further away then ever, that idea looks better and better and more people take it seriously."

Replying To royaldunne:  "It's a sobering fact, and one until recently I hadn't thought of myself, It has a knock on effect, look while I would dearly love Meath to win Leinster over next few years, I feel it is as important to the game that some other county apart from dubs wins it, be that Kildare, longford, Carlow , Westmeath, Laois. The province is dying and until one of us beats Dublin it will only get worse."

Same with mayo in the West. For me it shows just how much there is a need a structural change to the Championship.

It must be the same in Munster at this stage, with only playing Kerrymem having Munster Medals.

So essentially tonky 50% of those playing in championship have a realistic chance of a provincial medal.

For me it's time to scrap the provincials, they have gone the way of the railway cup.

Serious question though largely to Kildare and Meath lads, have you given up hope of ever beating Dublin again?

Its the foundation of all sucess in Meath GAA. Cant speak for Kildare. However, the way the game has evolved and is evolving, it needs radical overhaul and the romanticised "days of olde" when Meath v Dublin, Kerry v Cork for example was a genuine spectacle and meant something to the people and players in those counties is long over. The interest levels in Leinster have plummeted through the floor due to the GAA's financial and social backing of Dublin over a prolonged period of time and also due to localised issues within counties such as player retention, emigration, and simply lack of motivation. Dublin are also experiencing a modern golden age which coincides with the worst era in maybe 100 years for Meath, Kildare are much closer to Dublin at the minute. Id personally be in favour of scrapping all of the provincial championships, sadly the appeal is gone and has been gone for the better part of 20 years. Ulster has some appeal and Connacht to an extent but Leinster is dead, and has declined into a very damp squib where Dublin could realistically meet any other Leinster county in front of 40/50,000 to win the Delaney and forget about it a few weeks later.
