So we need a commercial manager. The cause of our problems is now officially blamed on what we didn't have. We did however had elected officers who put themselves forward as key decision makers. No blame attaches to them obviously. Would any sane commercial person work with these people? Having spent a lifetime in commercial activity I would not go near them. Did they ever hear of the word accountability. That is the key issue here!!!

Learn the financial lessons and move on. There are titles to be won in 2019. There is also a small matter of the footballers stopping the Dubs five in a row to be done. Also Corofin will win the club title again. Come on Galway- Gaillimh abú

"move on" you say. Learn from your mistakes you say? Eh core problem there is no accountability in GAA. Galway, now pairc ui choimh in Cork. Appears 'a few million' can't be accounted for!!! Ah sure Move on and learn. Fudge and more fudge. A circus!

Any suspicion of fraud should be handed to the relevant authorities.

Apart from that they have to move forward but transparency in all things is a must if lessons are to be learnt

The childrens hospital is supposed to cost in excess of 1 billion now. Aviva stadium were given 191 million by the Irish govt. Yes cost overuns are not acceptable. But they happen in all walks of life. Not just the GAA. Athbhliain faoi mhaise.

Your logic is others are worse so we are ok??? I think we should set our own standards and not accept what is unacceptable.

How to make sure this does not happen again? Well publish or put on line all the information. Also use professional business people more- JP McManus, Super Mac and others.

That is the sort of pathetic attitude rife within the GAA in my opinion

Although this is Ireland we are talking about, if Galway GAA was a business, it would have gone under long before now. The fact that this is sport doesn't lessen its failings in any way. As long as we are the ones putting money into the county, we have every right to hold people accountable for this level of mismanagement. Would you in your right mind consider parting with your money if this was allowed continue?

Regards getting professionals involved, I'd like to steer clear of people who haven't paid tax in this country like the example you mentioned above.

The only solution is for active club based GAA members put the right people in place and hold them to account. There are many well run clubs in Galway and in most other counties as well. Club members have good reason to make sure they send the right people to the board and hold them to account when they do.
There are no other magic solutions.

The GAA needs to downsize a bit. It costs too much to go to matches. Croke park tickets cost in excess of 50e. This needs to change. The stadium should charge not more than 15e for all matches in my opinion. Also they need more concerts in the Stadium too. Galway is a festival and tourism city. Other sports are deep in debt too. Very prominent sports. So less of the "queening" LOL
