Rugby.....a mullockers game...no skill. Does not compare with football or hurling. Soccer is even worse ChungLad (Longford) - Posts: 351 - 19/09/2008 19:17:41 103531 Link 0 |
I suspect that rugby and football have similar roots, regardles of Master Webb Ellis. In terms of skills, rugby is more skillful than football, but hurling beats both, hands down. What rugby offers is a game where every type of fellah can play a part, and it usually rewards effort and application far more than soccer. Over the years, Irish rugby has benefited from players who have played football; players like Shane Horgan come to mind immediately. With the ELVs such multi-talented players will be rewarded more, and surely is what true sports fans want: a showcase for genuine talent, with victory going to the best rather than the most desperate. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 19/09/2008 20:18:55 103554 Link 0 |
Having playin both rugby and Gaelic Football, I have to say that rugby is a better game! Although I do enjoy Gaelic. But it's a close call. There is a lot more to rugby that just Big fellas running into each other. I think there is more skill involved in rugby and with planned moves rehearsed over again and calls there is a lot more thinking to it than Gaelic. I know a lot of fellas where I'm from that have givin up GAA and only play rugby now. Speaks for it's self really. As for fittness levels I thnk also think there are different types of fittness but over all I believe the rugby lads are more fitter.
