been to one rugby match in my life, could not wait to sample this supposed great atmosphere. was wales match in croke park, match was like watching paint dry, pick up the ball, run, fall. same over and over. never seen worse and atmosphere was rubbish to. full of yuppies asking for their pints of porter. was rubbish, never again.

Are we talking about the game of Rugby, where you try and gain yards by running forwards and are only allowed to throw the ball backwards?

Great thread on a GAA site you mug!!

This is obviously a joke. GAA is streets ahead of rugby. Any sport that you deliberately kick the ball off the field can't be called a sport!

I'm not going to get into the debate but one thing I'll say is this. I was at Ireland v Wales in Lansdowne Road a few years ago. It was the loudest I've ever heard Amhrán na bhFiann being sung. I've been at a load of GAA matches and a fair few finals and people barely whisper the words!

glenn_abu. I have to agree. This is a GAA website. There is a non GAA thread for non sporting events.

Samin10 if I said it didn't make it a better sport, and you acknowledge that, then what's your argument towards me?

Hey now "the Seal".

I'd take that back about macattack. If he's over in London and supporting the GAA, involved in 1 of the numerous clubs over there that are promoting our games abroad, then all I can say is fair dues to him.

Football in London and New York and elsewhere is as important as it is here.

not an arguement, its a statement that a louder national anthem does not make it a better sport.

Really does ot matter what sport is better.

GAA and Rugby are two different sports played using different rules. So its very hard to compare

The only comparision you can say about the two sports are the players play the sport with pride and passion.

In my opinion Rugby lacks well behind Football, Hurling and yes soccer in terms of skill. Look at the skill levels of the Irish rugby squad- without doubt O'Driscoll is the finest player of his generation but look at the amount of time he has been injured. Also consider Johnny Wilkinson- a fine sportsman in an even worse scenario! There is much more skill involved in the three named sprts than rubgy- it is essentially a sport for 'big brutes' hence the reason the talents of the sport or lost to so many injuries.

"the Seal"

Apologies if you weren't being serious and dont think that way.

Anyway, I'm all stressed and think I'm just going around trying to be policeman corrector on the site. Sorry, I will have to stop. Trying to keep my mind off the game I guess.

I'd be quietly confident allright but not as sure as you seem to be. You know if it was any other team I'd be saying its a dead cert just from looking at the 2 teamsheets but Tyrone on top of being good footballers have this mental hardness, have beaten us twice (although the 2003 Kerry team was totally different) and they're very quick thinkers during the game.

I never argued that. My point was off-topic, hence the reason I said I didn't want to get into that debate.

Samin10 are we arguing about nothing?

People are reading our comments and saying to themselves "what fools"! :)
