Rubbish.. He was fouled by both players on route to goal should have at least got a free in..

Comer was clearly fouled after he won the ball, free in all day long. Ref gave nothing to Galway after the red card in time honoured GAA fashion. Barnowl94 (Galway) - Posts: 3150 - 22/07/2018 16:22:26 2124715 Link 7 |
Well done Galway, hard luck Lillies but the best team won. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 22/07/2018 16:24:57 2124716 Link 0 |
Goal was disallowed for over carrying, correct decision. But Comber was being fouled, and should have been awarded a free in. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 22/07/2018 16:29:12 2124718 Link 0 |
Full house. Great atmosphere. Best match of the summer. Remember the no way Super 8 matches should be allowed in Newbridge cos it wouldn't be a 'spectacle' nonsensical argument ? KildareKelly (Kildare) - Posts: 593 - 22/07/2018 16:31:27 2124720 Link 0 |
I don't mind admitting I was nervous going into that one, Kildare were on the verge of establishing a fortress, and I'm delighted we came out with the win. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3143 - 22/07/2018 16:38:15 2124722 Link 0 |
If that was a Dublin player at home Croker the goal would have stood for Dublin, especially with one of your pet Dublin refs on the whistle.

Apart from the fact that comer took about 15 steps, you are not allowed to put the ball under the arm, put the head down and try to barge through defenders. 11jm11 (Kildare) - Posts: 367 - 22/07/2018 17:00:31 2124736 Link 1 |
Whatever.. it shows you haven't a breeze what your on about.. The two defenders marking him were pulling his arms back.. Makes no difference now.. Best team won

Maybe the ref played advantage and then did him for overcarrying afterwards? Comer is a tough lad, very skilful, hard to mark and great to watch. Referees rarely do him any favours. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7910 - 22/07/2018 17:33:14 2124748 Link 3 |

We have played two super 8s games now and lost both by very little. Probably the difference is both Galway and Monaghan were slightly more clinical in their score taking. We butchered a couple of chances today to even take points but played one pass too many instead of being able to convert in or around the scoring zone. I'd rank us 6th or 7th in the Super 8s ranks which gives us something to build on with good young footballers in the pipeline. Well done to Galway today, just that bit better than us on the day. I like the fighting spirit we are showing though and our work rate to keep going to the end. kildare73 (Kildare) - Posts: 854 - 22/07/2018 18:22:41 2124782 Link 1 |
You could say the same thing about 31 counties. We've made good progress and that's all you can ask. We'll see how far it takes us.

That was a great victory for Galway and I think they are getting stronger with each game. I have to hold my hand up and say that I wrote Galway off after the Connaught final, just thought they struggled that day against Roscommon. However they are looking very strong now and are going to be difficult opponents in the All Ireland semi final. If they can beat Monaghan and top the group they would face the winners of Tyrone and Donegal in the semi final, they would see that as a game they could win. Galway have the dark arts of pulling and dragging off the ball down to a tee. It is not refereed in the modern game. Joe McQuillan was looking at it going on right under his nose on that touchline and he didn't pull it once. As soon as a Kildare man retaliated and OCeallaigh was pulling the shirt off Dan Flynn all afternoon, McQuillan of course gets that Kildare man sent off. OCeallaigh was obviously tasked to antagonise Flynn and unfortunately Flynn fell for it. Daith (Kildare) - Posts: 1172 - 22/07/2018 21:57:36 2124898 Link 2 |
Yes a surprisingly good season with still a game to go for Kildare. I always thought they had good footballers. They're on an upward curve. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8729 - 22/07/2018 22:19:06 2124912 Link 1 |
If Dan Flynn was a sending off then so was Kieran Donaghy in the Monaghan game. Two identical swipes at the player pulling at them but Donaghy gets yellow while Flynn gets red. You just have to love the refereeing that we have to look at.
