Dedicating your life to the betterment of the team isn't enough for some people to consider them as "Down men". As soon as they accept the role they should be treated as one of our own. Renowned for his defensive setups, which alone will bring limited success, much will depend on the attacking strategy, and I'm glad to see Benny assisting to counteract. How much sway Benny has in my opinion will determine Paddy's, and Downs, success, but has to be given full support from all corners for the next few years to eradicate the rot that has set in. we have got to be happy with this appointment he has a v good track record, seems to be v well respected from players and fellow coaches . His strengths our organising teams ( hopefully benny can bring some better forward play ) and his man management which unfortunately Eamon lacked with good players leaving because of this. Short term getting the best players playing for county and winning div 3 is a must then we can build i for one I'm happy with this appointment already looking forward to the start of league. Firstly well done to the 5 man committee , for getting this appointment over the line, theres now doubt Paddy had a list of assurances that would need to be in place, and all credit to the Co board for giving that the green light Its now up to the best players in Down to put their hand up and say .Im in, For me ,Div 3 is an absolute must, and when we take a serious look at whats in Ulster, we should have nothing to fear, providing are best players make themselves available germac (Down) - Posts: 586 - 26/08/2018 21:06:05 2136684 Link
