Lads what age is Daithi.? I hope too that Dingles Barry O'Sullivan is inside serious potential in that lad if harnessed right.

Is Payne not on the light side?

Daithi would be around 28 now horse so pretty much hitting his prime, Payne wouldn't be any lighter than fion or Paul Murphy really.
I like Barry O'sullivan and I've seen a lot of him over the years at underage, he's good very good but doesn't have explosive pace, I think we will see him in the league if the roumors about maher retiring are true.

Ya I am a fan but of Barry Sullivan what strikes me most about him and I mean this in the nicest possible way - there is a streak of a pup in him a trait that is imperative for midfield and a trait sadly lacking in both Moran and Maher and truth be told buckley as well, i thought Jack Barry had it but seeing him bullied around Croker last year by Mayo surprised me. I loved the combo of O'Conner/Sullivan with the Dingle school and Kerry minors they complimented each other perfectly - I'd rather the Dingle man got a league run that going back to the likes of the old tried and trusted but failed brigade. Needs to bulk up though of all the positions on the field that may be available and required to be filled by the lets call them the ex Kerry minors this position around the middle could be the hardest to fill due to lack of muscle seasoned muscle.

Is Adrain Spillane to be considered a midfield option - it's where he showed his ability and promise with the Kerry Juniors, the Cork Munster final that year in particular he just took the game to Cork and ran from deep. Lorded that day he did. Interesting times ahead my friends.

I don't know about ye but Mrs Clause produced the new Kerry jersey on Xmas day I've always been a huge huge fan of the older jerseys the late 80's and early 90's in particular and have tried in vain to get my hands on one through ebay/donedeal etc at one stage I even started a thread here looking for one anyway the new one is class class and read today that for our second league game away to Mayo we will be wearing the new alternative jersey, if it is anything like what has been produced so far it is sure to be a nice affair - I'm just wondering will Galvin go the blue Munster design or like I suspect an alternative green and gold version like say the 1981 or 82 strip.

Seeing as the buzz phrase is back or gold, I suspect it will be a green and gold version and not navy... whatbye think?

Santa had the new jersey waiting for me under the tree too Horse. I really like it, lovely dark green shade to it and the white strips really hark back to the Adidas geansai of early 1980s.

A vast improvement to the last jersey, which must have been the first one in a long time we didn't win an All-Ireland with.
Now if only they would bring back the old crest!!!!

Yes, it will be interesting to see what the alternate strip looks like. I really liked the blue one we had up to this, but as you suspect Horse, it would make sense for Galvin to evoke the alternate strips of the early 1980s.

Aye horse we'l have to speak in cockney slang or something :-) I had a ruby Murray tonight :-)

Only joking I've been watching too much only fools and horses.

My team for Donegal excluding Gaeltacht players, I'd go with
Murphy
Griffin , Jason foley , Ronan Shanahan
Gavin white, Crowley , Tom Sullivan .
Morley , Barry .
Savage, seanie Shea ,Murphy .
Clifford, geaney, jod.

Now you'd have Adrian Spillane maybe kevi McCarthy enright Brendan O'Sullivan Barry O'Sullivan

Personally I wouldn't put Murphy in the half forwards horse but knowing fitzs he likes his wing forwards to be defenders and the fact we have a lot of young talent in the half backs I think that's where we'll see Murphy ( he'll probably be sweeping) also I want to make a change I'd remove jack savage for daithi Casey .

I think he has to root more for a scoring half forward line and think we will see two very defensive mid fielders instead - this is a road I wouldn't mind going down. On another note does anyone know have we played any. Hallenge games of note or just AvB behind closed doors.

Hermit talk to you maybe Tuesday or Wednesday onc should sober up - I know a dead rubber of sorts but still a win is a win against Cork Andy if I'm right the first competitive win over Cork ever?

That's interesting horse that he'd play a more defensive midfield and let the forwards off the leash and it just might work, who would you play in midfield with Barry?
I was watching the 2014 minor final again last night, and even as a 17 year old mark o'Connor ran the whole show at midfield, how he didn't get man of the match il never know, he was up against eoghan ban Gallagher who is now in his second season as senior midfielder for Donegal and mark won the two throw ins and bossed the middle third setting up 4/5 points and his defending was class, he's an awful loss to us .

Cut the cord K'boy he may return a better prospect - who would plsy in the middle with Barry I'd look at Brendan Sullivan Barry O'Sullivan maybe Adrain Spillane Rob Se etc actually we'll see now Sunday if Rob Se can mix with the likes of Colm Cavanagh - usually there is a press conference detailing panel etc but no mention - I wonder did we play any challenge games Donegal are putting up nice scores in the McKenna Cup Catherine value of competitive games can't be ignored here and we have to win the home games

I knows horse, it's just could you imagine if jacko went to Australia back in the day? Would we have got the 4 in a row without him? Or if Fenton wasn't with the dubs would they have done 3 in a row? Or could you imagine if mayo had the two Hanley brothers they would surely have got over the line you'd think.
As Pio said a grain of rice can tip the scales.

We have options in midfield but let's hope they step it up and hopefully rob will have a good game against Colm, I cannot see Colm playing the sweeper the next day as he'll probably needed to storm forward.

I read on the Kerry GAA page that the Kerry seniors played ucc in a challenge yesterday but they had no info beyond that unfortunately, we need to beat Donegal as we're away to Mayo and Monaghan after that game.

Well lads, goodness knows what sort of team we will have in 2 weeks,so many rumours (or lack there of) about who is in and out, sure I'm after hearing over the weekend that Mike Geaney wasn't left off the panel at all, he is just in the States at the minute!

I think Jack Barry needs an extended run in midfield over the next couple of months and I'd go for putting O'Sullivan alongside him. Whatever we do about the half forwards we simply must get more pace and a scoring threat in there or we are on a hiding to nothing.

Our full back line is also a major problem.

Really important we hit the ground running and get a win under our belts against Donegal, we simply can't afford to lose any home game considering the tricky away fixtures we have.

Ya if you were to name the top 5 teams in the country at the moment you'd say our selves Monaghan Tyrone Mayo and dublin and we have the 4 top teams away, we'll be lucky to stay up imo.
Lads I haven't heard Rob Whartons name mentioned and he can't be over looked surely, he's been brilliant for south Kerry over the last two years and he's built like a tank.

I was reading an article this morning in which Mikey Sheehy was saying our supporters are a disgrace that hardly any 1 turned up for the replay with mayo and where as that is true I did mention many times on here that since they shut the doors to the Kerry fans in Fitzgerald stadium for training sessions there was going to be a disconnect between the fans and the team.
Not to mention all the young Kerry fans who used to go to watch their hero's train and it could get a lot worse down the road with these young fellas deciding to follow the soccer and rugby instead.
Fitzmaurice and Mikey should have walked away after the disgraceful performance against Mayo in the replay.
