Heard Kevin Cassidy was interested in the job? Any truth to this? candlewax (Galway) - Posts: 292 - 27/07/2017 22:05:17 2024667 Link 0 |
There is more chance that Butch Cassidy would get the job.

yeah, opening up the game plan would be the way to go. I'd love to see Kerry man take over, just to mix things up and get back to basics. Jack O'Conner maybe... could we get a backer for a helicopter!

Yeah he would be a great choice but not a hope in hell. Geezer was another I would like but again zero chance.

Besides looks like the county board will not do the necessary if statements are to be believed. Trying to create a big smoke screen actually cover what is really going on. Am I surprised? Not at all.

Yeah the county board are trying to create a smoke screen, why I don't know, probably because they were the ones who made the mistake of giving RG a 4 year stint, looks like they are going to plough on with the current shambles, unless RG resigns and from what I see there is little chance of that, so is it down to the players is has happened in other counties? that's not good either and it's not fair on them, they have given so much for the county, and we owe them so much for what they have done for Donegal football. Time for Donegal supporters to show their disgust at what is going on by staying at home from county matches next sesson until the County Board start taking this matter seriously. Not only that but the smokescreen being put up by the County Board and the closing of ranks is insulting to Donegal supporters everywhere. First McEniff making false accusations against Donegal supporters around abuse of Gerry Gallagher which didn't happen and for which McEniff has still not issued an apology, and now the County chairman, Sean Dunnion condemning online abuse of Rory Gallagher. I haven't seen any online abuse but have seen concerned supporters voice their annoyance at what is going on in the county set up but nothing personal towards Gallagher himself who I am sure is doing his best. Lads you are stuck with RG. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 28/07/2017 15:53:42 2024973 Link 0 |
What do contracts actually mean in GAA? Is it not just easy for a county board just to rip up a contract. After all, they aren't 'getting paid' so its not like in soccer where the remainder needs to be bought out. Who cares how many years he has left? benjyyy (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 28/07/2017 16:06:44 2024980 Link 1 |
You really would have to wonder what is going on here. Not like the county board have to look too far to their neighbours in Derry at what can happen when mediocrity sets in and how things can change rapidly. It was a very strange decision to give RG that contract last year and like the majority of supporters here I was gobsmacked. Maybe the county board sees success as being too costly? You can be sure in most other counties with an expectancy of high standards RG would have his P.45 already.

A real supporter follows his team through thick and thin. We can't be in croke park every year. Now is the time to support this young team not to walk away till we're competing with the big boys again. I'm not saying I'm in favour of Rory staying . But if he is I hope to follow my county next year again.

100%. At the end of the day the lads on the panel are representing Donegal and I'll support them no matter what silly politics are going on behind the scenes. We've had a bad summer and we're all worried about Donegal football but the lads always deserve our support in my opinion. JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1432 - 28/07/2017 16:44:58 2025008 Link 0 |
Dont give me that real supporter nonsense! If I don't want to go watch rubbish then I won't go to watch rubbish. When Donegal gets its house in order from the top down and members of the county board stop insulting our supporters, then I'll consider returning but not until then. And I'm not alone. There are plenty more like me who won't be back until then either. If you want to be a real supporter and continue to watch the horror shows that we saw against Longford and against Galway, then you go ahead.

It's looking likely that Rory is going to get the go ahead. According to Kevin cass he has the support of the players. Which makes it almost impossible to replace him. So whether we like it or not we'll have to put up with it.

Not sure he has the support of the players the way the media are making out. I doubt if he has the support of Frank McGlynn or Ciaran Gillespie. If a player is asked by someone in the media like Kevin Cassidy, what is he supposed to say? He can hardly say he is rubbish as it would be the end of him on the panel.

Abusive comments about Rory and the players are not on. They're wrong and shouldn't happen. Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1390 - 29/07/2017 17:54:23 2025414 Link 3 |
Excellent post summed up the current situation perfectly. I have already said that I personally have not read anything I would call personal abuse to either RG and definitely none of the players. I do not use twitter but obviously I must not be seeing all that is on other social media platforms as apparently some stuff has been posted. But it is nothing short of bizzare how the county board and ex players are rowing in together over these apparent posts while ignoring what the real problem is here and what really needs to be discussed. Unfortunately I have no faith in the county board doing what is right as they have plenty of previous and sadly this will be to the detriment of Donegal football, the Legacy of Jim McG and of course the supporters. Though on the plus side and it does pain me to say it Tyrone are absolute mortgage jobs to win Ulster as long as RG is still in charge of DL. Ok you could have a little saver on Monaghan but I just think Tyrone are in a different league.
