Replying To pundit2:  "He won two all-Ireland's lets not forget however it was a helluva long time ago
That said he brought Fermanagh to a Qfinal and div 2 of the league were they stayed up the first year. 2017 was an impossible job they lost a huge amount of players. I think he'll do ok, we'll stay up in div 2 and get a decent championship win or 2.. that's the height of our expectations to be fair"
He is the best we could of wished for - good track record over the last 30 years!

What was the reason for Kelly Leaving Louth, to take over a team a League below Louth?

What a joke , we get to Div.2 we appoint a man to take us back to Div. 4 .Has finance anything to do with decision, I wonder. Lots of Better canadits but they wanted to put a structure in place which would take financial support . Wait till you see the retirements all the other sporting bodies in the county must rubbing their hands .

Let's give the man a chance he does know football inside out, hopefully the lads respond to him.

Lots of better candidates ???? Could you name them please. We are in a very difficult division this year. Pete McGrath has very recent experience of the division. Even with Pete on board it will be a massive achievement to stay up in the division. He is a first class appointment. Hopefully, now that he is appointed people will get behind the team.

Scooter are you ready... To explain the logical song that you are slinging in this comment? What are you basing this negative view of the man on? Has he not won all Irelands, has he not shown he can achieve great things with limited resources? I know the Fermanagh players ousted him after a three years of service which suggests something negative but he was apart of it in 2015 when they stuck it to the mighty Dubs, their moral was through the rough that day and he was on the line. Who were the better candidates out there? What do you mean by they wanted financial structure, who did, like do you mean we needed to be able to afford it with the limited finance we have? Like to be fair none of us mouths on here are busting ourselves to organise fundraisors or run some commercial entity on behalf of our county. So the fact that our books are balanced and Croke Park arnt having to co sign our counties cheques is a testement to the boys who put their necks out and spend their time for us in Louth, when they could be posting comments on hoganstand.

I personally think its a great appointment and hopefully all our players in the county are prepared to continue the hard work and belief they have shown us in the last few years, with a man who's guided men to the Holy grail before. Hopefully he can get the understanding back in the preponderance of know it alls amongst Louth people that not everything is negative and there is no point in crapping on other peoples hard work if it dosnt come off 100%, sometimes the hard work should be appreciated not the outcome. So to quote your great self show a bit of "Respect to the man in the ice cream van" and explain your comment a bit better or give us some facts/ clear opinions.

On the positive side, he has won 2 senior and 1 minor AI titles. Not too many would have that on the CV.
On the flip side he may be considered old school but only time will tell.
Kelly to Westmeath is a funny one. The may be a division lower but have more pedigree in the championship than us in recent years so there will be a decent level of expectation.

Pete McGrath is a very good appointment for the Louth job; great experience and success, an honourable man who will work hard for Louth football. He will consolidate our position in Division 2 of the League (which would be great against such strong opposition) and you'd never know what might happen in the Championship; Pete has had a few surprising successes with other counties over the years. I look forward to a very interesting year following the Louth team. We are proud to be Louth!! Lú abú!!

Sounds like you want the Louth team and Manager to fail. No such word in the English language as "canadits".

Kelly was a very clever man,he is more than likely gona get Westmeath promoted to division 2 to add yet another promotion to his cv.He will probably get them a decent run in the championship too so he know exactly what he's doing.Whereas if he stayed with louth they'll probably struggle in division 2 let's be honest so he's thinking about his cv at the end of the day.

Division 3 won't be that easy for Westmeath. Armagh will obviously be one of the stronger teams. Rory Gallagher will bring something new to Fermanagh.
But yes another Promotion would look good for Kelly. Westmeath have probaly individual players then Louth.

Yeah but they are still all Irelands. Your not seriously going to belittle an all Ireland championship no matter when it was won. Our main man Ollie might take that as blasphemy. I was going to ask you would you go up to any of the Monaghan men with medals in their pocket and tell them your not impressed cause it was years ago but I suppose you'd have a hard job.
