Name the the players that want to play for the county???? I may not be missed but I can guarantee you Fitzer is not the answer. Will he call his son up again?

Most of that team that Fitzer got us to the Leinster final was the team left by Eamon Mc Eneaney. Fitzer added in Eamon McAuley and his son Stephen. Fitzer was a great a player and you can't deny his passion for Louth. When you compare his interviews to Colin Kelly they are like chalk and cheese. Fitzer's downhill was when he went in to politics. His highlight was getting us to our first Leinster final in 2010 and staying up in Division Two in 2012. Wee relegated the Royals on Easter Sunday on April 8th in that year.

Was 2011 the only time Carlow beat us in championship. We certainly did not field our best team that day. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1742 - 03/07/2017 23:55:29 2010071 Link 0 |

Ollie, as usual, an accurate summary. Fitzer going into politics took us from 3 from 3 in the league, to barely scraping through, if memory serves right. He improved us however you cannot serve two masters. LaLu (Louth) - Posts: 238 - 04/07/2017 00:01:22 2010075 Link 0 |

It sure was 19616609. It was Carlow's first Championship win over the Wee County after eleven attempts. Louth were leading by three points with five mins to go and Carlow scored the last four points of the match to win by a point. Brendan Murphy scored some great points for the Barrowsiders that day. That was another glorious opportunity for Louth to get to another Leinster final. The Dubs, Meath, Kildare and Laois were all on the other side of the draw.

I was down in Wexford Park the day Fitzer got elected the first time around in 2011. Louth beat Wexford down there by four points. It was some performance. The great Paddy Keenan led the way. Not too many teams at that time would beat Wexford in their own backyard. Hopefully history can repeat itself with the minors.

Dublin only beat Wexford 2-12 to 1-12 in 2011 Leinster final. If we had beaten Carlow we could have been on a roll. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1742 - 05/07/2017 00:48:44 2010810 Link 0 |

The only thing is Wexford are a bogey team for Louth in the Championship at the moment. Wee last beat them in 1980. They have beaten us in the last three championship matches.

The minors are showing us how to do it. Score lots of goals. Any chance of Shane returning?
