Sean Boylan has quit his role as Meath's director of football.
The legendary former Royal County manager was appointed to the position in September - on the same night that Monaghan man Seamus McEnaney was ratified to manage Meath for a second season.
However, Boylan confirmed yesterday that he had opted to step down from the role as it wasn't working out.
Ever the diplomat, the Dunboyne herbalist refused to elaborate on the exact reasons for his decision but he did concede that the County Board had been informed "some weeks ago".
Boylan is believed to have become increasingly frustrated by the fact that his ideas and suggestions were not being discussed or implemented. He admits in today's Irish Independent: "For whatever reasons we just didn't get sitting down and talking about matters relevant to it."
