Mulvihill brothers shine in Ashbourne success

Donaghmore/Ashbourne's Fionan Mulvihill gets away from Nobber's Brian Meade during the Meath JFC "C" final at Pairc Tailteann.
Former GAA director-general Liam Mulvihill's two sons Fionnan and Aonghus Mulvihill played leading parts in Donaghmore/Ashbourne's 3-10 to 0-12 victory over Nobber in yesterday's Meath JFC 'C' final at Pairc Tailteann.
Aonghus scored a point from wing back, while Fionnan notched three points from left half forward. As the scoreline suggests, it was a comfortable victory for Donaghmore/Ashbourne's third team, but the day did have a silver lining for Nobber who overwhelmed Ollie Murphy's Carnaross in the IFC final which followed the JFC 'C' decider.
Although a native of Longford, Liam Mulvihill - who served as GAA director-general from 1979 to 2008 - has been living in Ashbourne for many years.
