Fermanagh senior football manager Ryan McMenamin has stepped down from his post.

The Tyrone All-Ireland winning defender took charge of the Ernesiders for two seasons from August 2019 after having served as assistant to previous manager Rory Gallagher.

During his first year in charge, Fermanagh suffered relegation to Division 3 at the end of an Allianz League campaign severely disrupted by Covid-19.

The 2021 season saw McMenamin’s charges maintaining their third-tier status in the league before losing out to Monaghan in their Ulster SFC quarter-final by 10 points.

This past season the team’s progress was hindered by the absence of experienced players that included three sets of brothers - the Corrigans, Tomas and Ruairi, Ryan and Conall Jones as well as Che and Lee Cullen.

McMenamin had been handed a three-year term two years ago this month but has opted to cut it short by one, which leaves the Erne County now on the look out for a new manager for next season.
