Dublin boss Dessie Farrell says they will be appealing the red card issued to Brian Fenton in Sunday’s Allianz Football League final loss to Derry.

Fenton was given his marching orders by referee Conor Lane towards the end of extra time for an apparent shove on opponent Eunan Mulholland.

The automatic one-match ban handed down as a result is set to see the Raheny man suspended for the Dubs’ Leinster SFC opener against either Meath or Longford on April 14 and Farrell says the All-Ireland champions intend to appeal.

“Yeah, we definitely will,” he said after the game. “I sort of half saw it. I would need to look at the video to be honest to see what went on. It would not be in Brian’s character.

“I saw him pushing a player — now that could be a sending off, I don’t know but anyway I am sure the powers that be and our own county board will take a look at that and see what happens.”
