Dublin GAA is to launch an investigation into an alleged assault on an umpire during a minor hurling league game in Sandymount yesterday.
Gardaí were called to the scene after the match between Naomh Fionnbarra and Clanna Fontenoy at Sean Moore Park was abandoned just after half-time. According to eye witnesses, the umpire was treated for a head injury after he was set upon by at least two individuals.
Two players from Naomh Fionnbarra were sent off.
