KELLOGS CUL CAMP IN CLONDUFF
212 children all from Clonduff Parish attended the annual Kellogs Cul Camp in Clonduff Park last week. This was one of the biggest in the County for boys and girls aged 4-13 years and with the exception of one morning the weather was favourable. Comment from parents on Clonduff's Social Media was extremely favourable. The entry fee for the week's camp included a magnificent, stylish kit - quarter-zip top, jersey and rucksack (school bag). Many thanks to County Board for organising, our Club Coordinator Teresa Carr and the 15 coaches involved which included 5 Clonduff coaches/helpers - Ryan McShane, Paula Gribben, Sarah Bloomfield, Jenna Boden and Ben McConville.

A total of 87 teams from 20 countries will participate in the week-long festival of Gaelic games activity 7th - 14th August at UCD's Belfield campus, with the finals being played at Croke Park. This World Championship is for teams from outside Ireland in regions of the world where Men's and Ladies Football, Camogie and Hurling are played. Teams from Australia, South Africa, Argentina, China, Canada, the Middle East, USA, Europe, and Britain will be involved. GAA Scór type entertainers from across the ten regions took part. It was then the turn of 2015 Solo Singing Champions from Kerry followed by the current All Ireland Champion Set Dancers from Mullingar with the Clonduff group providing the musical accompaniment. It was a fabulous opportunity for the Murray Family - Stephen, Sean, Mary Catherine, Eoin and Gavin who were joined by Vivienne Mulcahy and Paul Kelly. They were privileged to be involved and everyone in Clonduff and Down is proud of your participation in this world event!
FOOTBALL
SFC Clonduff 2-15 v Mayobridge 0-13
The Clonduff team, a nice blend of youth interspersed with more experienced players put on a great display against a much fancied Mayobridge side that had three players returning from suspension. Clonduff got the scoring underway with Niall Tumilty scoring his first ever Senior Championship point. The Bridge quickly replied before Stephen and Barry moved The Yellas two ahead but back came the Bridge to level on 11 mins - the game was tied again on 0-6 apiece before Barry slotted home the first goal of the game on 20 min to lead by 3 points and that gave Clonduff renewed confidence but in truth Clonduff were much the better team all over the field and led 1-8 to 0-6 at the break.
The Boys in Blue came out all guns blazing and got the first two scores of the second half to leave just one kick of the game in it. Then with 5 mins gone Conor Óg did what younger brother Barry did in the first half - he hit the back of the net to go six up. Then disaster struck - Kieran Trainor received a straight red card on six min - it was going to be a long half. Mayobridge got the next two points and then the Yellas galvanised and rattled over the next three points - at this stage it looked as if they had the extra man! Benny Coulter was introduced on 20 mins but it was the son of former Down Great, Cormac Linden who got the next score from corner back. The Bridge were then reduced to 14 when Shane McNamee was Black carded and having used all their subs couldn't replace him. Aidan Carr sent over the resultant long range free, reminiscent of his father before him! Arthur rounded off the scoring with his second point having come on as a sub mid way through the second half.
All in all a sound performance! Next Championship game in three weeks with a couple of league games likely in the meantime. Well done all concerned!

RFC Clonduff III 8-17 v Drumgath II 5-4
Clonduff and Drumgath provided a goal-fest in a highly entertaining game in Clonduff Park on Sunday afternoon. A number of last year's winning team were unavailable having graduated to a higher level - five having played in this year's senior championship! It was still a strong side woth both Niall Brown and Paddy Matthews scoring a hat-trick each. On the visiting side, former Down Goal Keeper Peter Travers on the Drumgath team also scored a hat-trick. However it was the late-forties-something Marty Burns who showed them all how it should be done!

SD U16 Top 4 League Play off Clonduff 6-5 v Mayobridge 3-16
The U16 footballers started this game well, scoring two goals in the first five minutes and should have had a couple more. They went in at half time 4 points up having played against the wind. Mayobridge started the second half very strong and with ten minutes to go led by ten points. Once again the Clonduff boys showed character and fought back to within 3 points.
