Ronan McDermott netted an injury-time goal to snatch Donegal a 1-22 to 3-16 draw against Roscommon in this afternoon’s Nickey Rackard Cup clash in Letterkenny.
Roscommon looked like they’d claimed victory when sub Adam Donnelly hammered in their third goal on the 70-minute mark but McDermott intervened two minutes later to secure a share of the spoils for Donegal.
It was home side that dominated large spells of the first-half to take in a 0-12 to 0-8 lead at the break, but Daniel Glynn netted a pair of goals (one a penalty) after the turnaround that ensured an intriguing finish at O’Donnell Park.
Donnelly thought he’d won it for the Rossies but two minutes later the sliotar would be in their net via Donegal’s captain McDermott and it saw the sides finish all square at the last whistle.
In Carrickmore, Tyrone proved too strong for Armagh in the finish as the recorded their third win on the trot on a 3-17 to 1-15 score-line.
Tiarnan Murphy registered a hat-trick of second goals that led the Red Hands to victory after the sides went in level at half-time (0-10 to 1-7).
Armagh goaled through Shea Harvey in the 23rd minute to take the lead but Damian Casey’s points had Tyrone all square by the break and they’d hit another gear in the second-half with Murphy to the fore.
