Malachy O’Rourke is set to be named as the new Tyrone senior football manager.
One of the most sought-after managers in the game, O’Rourke will succeed the outgoing duo of Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan after being the only nominee for the post. He was nominated by his adopted club Errigal Cíaran and is expected to be ratified at a county board meeting next Tuesday evening.
It will be the Fermanagh native’s first inter-county post since he stepped down as Monaghan boss in 2019 after leading them to two Ulster SFC titles. He is currently in charge of Derry champions Glen who he steered to All-Ireland Club SFC glory earlier this year.
