Derry defender Chrissy McKaigue was delighted to join his county’s fellow All-Star winners after earning the right corner-back position on the 2022 football selection.
McKaigue and team mate Conor Glass were the Ulster champions’ two representative on the team and they were presented with their gongs at last night’s gala ceremony at the Dublin Convention Centre.
It came five days after both men were on opposite sides in last Sunday’s Derry SFC final, which saw Glass’s Glen defend their title against McKaigue’s Slaughtneil.
McKaigue took to Twitter today (Saturday) to express his delight at becoming part of an elite group and joining some of the Oak Leaf County’s greats in winning an All-Star award.
TweetTo be in this type of company is something I only ever dreamed of. As a youngster growing up watching and being obsessed with football, today is a wee bit surreal. Very proud and looking forward to 2023 with a great team and county 💪 pic.twitter.com/hwSd0qLo09
