Apologies all on the Galway forum if my post came across as a bit off and tetchy, just disappointed way Wexford never turned up yesterday, Galway were obviously the better team on the day so on that score no complaints from me. Wished we could have put up any sort of display. Time to move on.

Wexford V Tipp.. First Full House For Semi? - 6 Like(s)

Replying To waynoI:  "[quote=steve097:  "[quote=waynoI:  "Where were the 40k supporters before they got to a leinster final? They arent great fans. They're great bandwagon jumpers. The real great supporters of any county, cause this isnt a dig at wexford people are the fans that go to league games, pre season tournament games in the freezing cold. Very easy to rock up to an all ireland semi final at the end of July when the weather is good and you havent been to most games in the year."
On a scale of 1 to 10 there are supporters all along it. You can't expect aunt Mary and uncle Paddy to be freezing their nuts off in February, but they're as entitled as anyone to their day out if that's their choice. Live and let live."]I appreciate that not everyone can, and they're entitled to their day of course they are and I hope they have a brilliant day and enjoy the occasion....... but they still arent great supporters. They're still only jumping on the bandwagon. You cant get away from that fact. The great supporters are the fans from any county who do spend their wages going to games in the league be they from Dublin, mayo, leitrim, sligo, etc. No county has great support over another. Just some have greater bandwagon fans. Nothing wrong with them, but lets not just take a number like 40k wexford people going to a semi final of an all ireland and start saying they're brilliant cause they arent really. The brilliant ones are the supporters of every county who will be freezing their bits off next January from wexford who come out. Or the few thousand Dublin fans that come out, or mayo fans who come out. Alot of them wexford fans there on sunday will be there for the gargle, not the actual game on the pitch, and I can say that with certainty, because itll be the same with dublin fans in our football semo final. I'm not just having a pop at wexford. Its every single county and their fairweather bandwagon jumpin fans and sure we can talk about irish football and rugby teams too. Same goes."]Another nonsense post. Biggest population in the country yet Wexford v Kilkenny had 4,000 more than the Leinster Football Final with Dublin playing at home, you couldn't make it up.

Good to see everyone getting behind the team... everyone forgotten 3 years ago we got hammered by 13 points away to Dublin, we got a draw in 2019 against a team good enough to knock Tipperary out of the league, possibly should have won, but are still basically the worst team in the championship according to this forum which is supposed to be our home forum, God help us what other counties must think, absolute joke the way the team have been lambasted on here. These players are giving their all for the county, showed great spirit coming from 5 points down to get a point in a pretty tough away game. Criticised for lack of scoring despite hitting 2-19 with both goals from play, criticised for poor defending despite our keeper making at least 3 important saves and Dublin's only goal from a dubious free in injury time, players accused of lacking skills despite Connor McDonald scoring 2 points from sideline cuts and best of all a player gets accused of not contributing much despite scoring 11 points, you couldn't make it up. Let's go back to 2016, and get beaten out of the park. I for one will back them all the way, good luck in Galway lads, at least one Wexford supporter on here will be supporting you.

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  ""I think our performance yesterday could've beaten Waterford and definitely would've beaten Clare" Really? Wexford have beaten Antrim by 1 point, at home, and were beaten by Dublin. I think you should be more concerned about a relegation battle than looking at teams from Munster."
Best Antrim by 11 points, just saying. Clare v Waterford was a pretty poor game, and Tipp v Cork a non event.

Hurling Relegation Playoff - 2 Like(s)
The supposed jewel in the GAA crown of the Munster hurling championship winds me up. No relegation even when teams fail to win a game like Tipp last year. At a minimum a sense of jeopardy should prevail, Waterford have been atrocious this year, yet will still be there next year in their never ending bid to win an All Ireland. They haven't won a Munster title since 2010. Wexford have only lost 6 games out of the last 21 in Leinster yet facing relegation. Absolute joke.

Dublin V Carlow - 2 Like(s)
Fair play to Carlow great effort and Sean Murphy was outstanding. Dublin won but Carlow come out with great credit. Also Carlow now one of the few legitimate dual counties who commit fully to hurling and football.

Replying To wendellgee:  "It is making a valid point to say thestructure is questionable. Winning the mini-league leads to a four-and a-half week break before the semi-final. It's at least week too long for optimum. No-one sets out to lose, but the structure is partly why the rehab for the likes of Eoin Whelan, Cian Doyle, and Robbie Chapman is being targeted for the business end of the championship. The semi-final, Leinster final and All-Ireland final take place within 17 days, playing a quarter final two weeks before all that might be no bad thing. It also bloods more of the panel at the highest level they'll ever have played. As to the preparation, the spine of this panel came together at U-13, in 2017. This is their eigth season together, they knoew each other well. Dara Kehoe and Cian O Tuama, are, to the best of my knowledge the only players to have featured at county senior level, some of them played Fitzgibbon this year, but mostly freshers. One thing to note about that is that some ofthe most talented in this panel are under age again next year- Paidi Doyle, Sean Rowley, Cillian Byrne, and Simon Roche, along with the two Duffry lads who have been battling injury. Charlie Roark, the centre back, was U-17 last year. Tomorrow is all about performance. A win would be nice, but being competitive for the full hour against a Kilkenny team that have handed out a few drubbings to Munster teams is essential."
Hoping Wexford all the best for the upcoming Leinster championships , I don't post often as a UK second generation Irish don't think my opinion carries much weight, can't claim knowledge on the Wexford club scene etc, but with a Wexford dad and a Tipperary mum, love hurling and think sometimes Wexford underplays it's contributions to GAA history, only 4 counties have more All Ireland Hurling titles, first county to do a 4 in a row, the greatest family in GAA history, and when Wexford are doing well it is basically better championship. And I always back Tipp in Munster, only county to win an All Ireland in every decade since the GAA started. Here is hoping to great 2024 of hurling.

Can we all not just get behind the best group of hurlers we have had in years, back them all the way and appreciate the effort they put in for The Purple and Gold, sick and tired of supposed Wexford supporters berating lads given their all for our county. Enough.

Fair play to the Westmeath hurlers, showed plenty of fight to turn that around, deserved win. As a Wexford supporter, can't really say anything positive about our hurlers at the moment.

Replying To katser:  "Dubs aren't really a good team they just wanted to win this match more and were up for it, neither Dublin, Wexford or Kilkenny are going to have any say in the Liam McCarthy Cup...they would be gobbled up by the Southeners!!"
That's why Wexford beat Cork and Tipperary in the League this year, knocked out Cork, Waterford and Clare out of the All Ireland over last 5 years, yeah right.

Hard luck today, had the chance but Tipp are a battle hardened team, bit streetwise on the day. Great effort this year, if you said at start we would be Leinster champions and run Tipp to 2 points in a semi final I would have said that is optimistic. Onwards and upwards.

Kilkenny and Tipp Give Us A Traditional All Ireland Hurling Final - 2 Like(s)

Replying To festinog:  "It's a shame that the sending off is all there is to talk about after what's supposed to be the showpiece of hurling. Plenty of teams have managed to make a game of it with one man down. Tipp had equalized and were taking control by the time the sending off occurred, and they blew them out of the water in the third quarter when KK legs should still have been fresh and good to go; not to mention that they had the half time break to re-organize. Of course saying Tipp would have won regardless is supposition; but given the scoreline by the end of the third quarter, I think the circumstantial evidence is pretty strong to support it. Disappointing end to what has been, with a few exceptions, a fairly forgettable championship."
Tipp were better team and would have won regardless of the sending off, is it a forgettable only because Galway has no part in it? Tipp won 7 out of 8 games, best record of any county and won against Wexford with 14 players. Some comments on here are complete drivel.

Fun gone out of the gaa - 2 Like(s)
Huge gaps in quality in hurling and football in Leinster, half empty stadiums, the unrelenting tedium of the sweeper system in hurling, the emphasis on supreme athleticism at the expense of skill and touch...is it me or does the GAA seem devoid of fun and excitement at the minute. Watching traditional counties such as Cork, Wexford, Meath struggling seems an indication of the almost monotonous nature of the championships now and is making it hard work to watch let alone enjoy what should be the two greatest field games in the world.
