Very good performance by the u20s tonight in their win over Offaly.Defence was very solid and the pace at which they moved the ball was very impressive and scored some great points.Shane Ormsby is a very good player and his high fielding from kickouts was brilliant but to be fair all the players put in a huge effort.A mention and congrats to Offaly GAA on the wonderful facilty at the Faithful Field arena-a fantastic set up.

Really and truely how can you be expected to play a final without your best players able to play for you.County players are generally recognised as being the best because thats why they are selected foe inter-county so why should their club suffer in a final.Just let them play and if one gets injured surely an inter county panel of 30 + can cope.

The idea behind JP McManus's generous donation was to benefit all clubs -both big and small and while a center of excellence is of great importance for inter county going forward it dosent benefit the young lads and girls who make up the majority of our clubs and who might be deemed"not county material"but play week in week out with their pals because they love it.Their own clubs need this financial boost to improve thier own facilities or maybe new gear etc.-im sure this was the intention of JP.

Tough group but a great draw-in my opinion.We are not going to win an all Ireland but we have 3 great matches to look forward.You want to be playing the best.Season has been a success with all with all boxes ticked-promotion-divisional title and all Ireland series gained.We put up a good showing last year in group games so why not again this year.

Replying To mickcunningham: "will dessie risk any players on sunday . its a game we should win with a bit to spare" Dont know about a bit to spare -should he winning of course but Sligo have only lost 2 games and after 3 games were practically secured their div 3 status-won 3 drew 1 lost 2.With championship coming up and nothing on the game for Sligo-only pride-they might play some fringe/young players to test them.Either way Dessie and Westmeath need to go full tilt and dont let up and Id expect a big Westmeath following as well-being very good all year.

Replying To Chops: "Goalkeeper and defense were woeful yesterday. Piling players back to mark grass and not lose opposition players isn't working. Defense couldn't match pace of Roscommon forwards who only had to turn one way then another to create 2-3 meters of space to shoot. Eddie Nolan, Keith Doyle, Shane Cunnane and Enda Smyth cleaned us in the middle 3rd for the first half hour. Once half time approached and Roscommon knew Meath were being hammered they took the foot off. Very hard gauge where team is at after that performance. If we do get over Kildare we will not beat Louth who should win against Wexford/Laois winners. Another Dublin Louth final." What a ridiculous statement to make -,you do know or do you? -that Cavan wete 1 kick away from drawing with Cork and knocking Roscommon out.Westmeath dominated Roscommon in second half and stopped them playing.-but go on and continue knocking these young lads who have only played 7 competitive games as a unit and in my opinion have performed very well in a very tough division

I think the Keane/Dolan management team makes sense in order to keep up the continunity going.Jack Cooney had faith in them to bring them into his set up so why change now.They both know the set ups /players within the county club teams-im sure the current county squad have faith in them and if needed Jsck Cooney is only a phone call away for advice if needed.Bringing an outsider in and your back to square one

Westmeath were just ok in the first half and to score the final 3 pts in the half kept them in the game but in the second half they totally blew Longford away-all over the park.People will say agh shur Longford were this and that but Westmeath were excellant and some ,well most of their scores were well taken.Delighted for Dessie,his management team and his squad of players.They have to bring this performance into the Offaly game now.

Doron Harte-a great player for Garrycastle-would have had 9 if it was not for some crazy substitutions by Garrycastle management team in the last few minutes of their final in 2021 against St.Lomans-a case of the tail wagging the dogs head.!!

Fantastic display by Westmeath today all over the park-Jack Smith was superb and what about Kevin Maguire who made some brilliant forward runs.Jack Cooneys game plan worked a treat and retaining 100% of our kick outs was huge-also scoring 3-19 from play -every player who was on the pitch today deserves huge praise.Bring on Cavan.!!

Brilliant analysis of the weekends game v Cork and other games on last nights Iarmhi Inter County podcast-great listening to Dennis Glennon's take on things past and present and the general sensus us that this management team and young squad are doing their best and the bickering and snide comments from people who dont even attend games is not helping.Get out and support these young lads-they are the future.
