All Ireland Final 2023 - Dublin V Kerry - 4 Like(s)
I think there's a lot of pressure on Kerry going into this final. They've never beaten this Dublin side with everyone fit. They barely got over the line against a under strength Dublin side last year who died on their feet. Albeit it was an unbelievable score from O'Shea. They bottled the 5 in a row 2019 final when they had Dublin on the ropes and were a man up, who knows if Kerry won that, they could be going for a 5 in a row themselves in two weeks time such was the importance of that game. Kerry need to beat this full strength Dublin side in a final before we can consider them a great side. Great game to look forward to.

Replying To Kerryfanboy:  "Ye northerners never fail to amuse… PuT tHeM iN uLSteR…. We just beat 2 Ulster teams in the last 2 games… whilist ulster football has always been competitive, this is primarily because Ulster football doesn't get to an elite level like Kerry and dublin… it's good for what ye have in yer own little bubble but when ye play the big dogs, it's a different story hence why ye have about 5 all Irelands out of the 9 counties in the history."
If we consider post 1990 as the modern era; both Ulster and Munster have the same quantity of All Irelands won with 10 a piece. So your living up to both the Kerry stereotypes of having both a lack of knowledge paired with arrogance.

Replying To TheUsername:  "Delighted to be in the final and to have a cut off Kerry. We were very unlucky against them last year picking up injuries last year and of course we had no Jack, Stevo or Mannion and still could of got a result, the game hinged on a questionable decision really. Full deck, i think we will certainly be competitive. 50/50 game really. Two talented teams. Key things for us - who takes Clifford, Fitzey has held him well before, maybe drop Jamsie or Howard back. If we can hold him to four and cut out the advanced mark - which is a lot of his score we will have done well. Discipline will be key, no silly frees again Clifford and O Shea eat these up. Hold those two and you can be confident enough of posting a performance and a hand in on the result. Kerry will go with their blanket and usual swarm defence, we need pace and penetration - you can at them. Hoping for a strong ref, Kerry tend to be cynical once you cross the half way line and beat the man they will drag you down high up the pitch, want a ref that punishes that with cards. With the above in mind one consideration is a free taker, we've left Deano on the bench all year, but i think a free taker may be critical in this game - maybe im being unfair on Cosie, who has been in great form. In between lets enjoy the build up, its been a couple of years since we've been in the final so nice to enjoy the build up and excitement again. As always, Up The Dubs."
Likes or Murchan, McCaffrey and co. could have a field day; Kerry defence couldn't cope when the Derry runners took on their man; lack of composure from Derry cost them yesterday.

Will Super Clubs Ruin The Gaa - 2 Like(s)

Replying To tomsmith:  "Tomsmith here from Cavan I just wonder will the proliferation of super Clubs sound the death knell for rural Gaa clubs in every County. My own Club Cavan Gaels is now been described as a super club by some Country Club people but we are not and have never been asuper Club as we only play our own players who want to play for the love of the sport and wear the Blue Jersey with pride. I am referring to the big clubs who entice in players with either a Job, status, some say money or romance has attracted players into these big clubs . Every County has a few of these big super Clubs and if appears most belong to the principal Town in the County"
Should Cavan Gaels amalgamate with West Cavan and form a super club considering they take their best players anyway?

Replying To FootballGuy:  "I'm sorry but nobody really thought we had the 2nd best team outside Dublin 2 or 3 years ago? Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone and even Galway were well ahead 2 and 3 years ago. More recently we have Derry and even Armagh fighting it out as well who hav probably passed us out. Ulster is seriously competitive ans no tougher first championship game for Jim than away to Derry. Hopefully he can pull off a shock. It might take some time though for us to reach top form though, will even even see if year 1?"
There was lots of people that was of that opinion. It may have been 4 to 5 years ago but there definitely was a period when Donegal were seen as the main challenger to Dublin. Bonner underachieved massively with the squad he had.

Replying To Creilly_Baby:  "corlurgan and crubany schools are dwarfed by the boys school and st clares. fields and hills dont equate to houses and population. you are conveniently leaving out the other schools in the town that the gaels clubs have access to. And lots not forget the influx of players through work and in county transfers who have togged for their seniors in the past. you won't be giving credit to alot of hard work out in killygarry anyway. Maybe the tide is turning and you are just a bit sour."
You've left out the Gaels feeder region of West Cavan which has been of benefit to them over the years.

Should improve your competitiveness in the Connacht Club Intermediate and Junior competitions too. Has a Leitrim ream ever won one? Ballinamore came close few years back in Intermediate v Westport who went onto to win the All Ireland from what i remember.

Football Format Changes Discussion - 2 Like(s)
No matter what format we have there's going to be an element of the GAA fraternity that will be complaining. We have a near perfect format now; Get rid of the pre-season competitions and replace them with the provincials or play the provincials in between league games and we have as close to the perfect system as we can get in my opinion.

Replying To oneoff:  "But it is. You there's 8 teams in the Kerry championship and that's not the case. You mentioned the club championships after. If they have an unfair advantage why aren't Kerry clubs winning the All-Ireland senior title every year?"
We never mentioned that's it was the senior teams with the advantage. It's there Intermediate and junior teams that have the advantage. And that's due to their lack of senior teams. Hence why they are top of the roll of honour by some distance in both Junior and Intermediate Club All-Ireland wins. Whether they have 20 Senior teams or 4 senior teams will be of no advantage or disadvantage to their senior champions but it will impact the quality of their Intermediate and Junior Champions. Surely this is common sense?

Not sure why you take such delight in McKaigue's poor performance; the man is a gentleman

Fairly surprising that for a big football county. I have it at 19/30 of the remaining counties have made an Ireland Semi Final since that.

Massive result for Arva yesterday evening. 2 Division 1 sides and 12 division 3 sides in Junior Championship this year; must be one of the most lobsided championships in the country.

In Cavan the games are streamed and separate commentary online/radio also. Review and Preview podcast shows throughout the week for Senior, Intermediate, Junior & Ladies football for a fiver a month on Patreon. Should be the same for every county.

Replying To togoutlads:  "Haphazard structures and disjointed prep across the age groups in Galway underage football are proving out. It's simply not good enough and the county board and senior officials need a grilling on what's actually happening here. A pathetic set of results and situation for a serious footballing county. Where is the unified coaching philosophy that's seen in Kerry and Dublin development groups, for example, where top down it's developed and supported to not only build but enforce a county-wide coaching framework that aligns underage squads with what senior coaches are looking for a few short years down the road in terms of setup, playing style and ethos, strategies, skills development, addressing perceived areas of weakness in a given group, etc? What's happening on this front alone? Some dev squads not even picked yet, I'm hearing, and it's almost May. And majority of those selected are seemingly from coaches own clubs, regardless of club success! It's still going on. I could go on, there's more to our county's sad decline at the moment in juvenile football."
Is this the same Dublin that havent won an All Ireland at U20 or Minor since 2017. Galway have won both in the last 5 years.

He was definitely heading on that path to be the greatest ever. However the last 2 years he's had some very sub par performances. Which is understandable considering all that has happened. If he continues the form of Sunday into this season and delivers Sam back to Kerry he's back on course.
