... Dr Crokes v Rathmore this Sunday in the senior club final. The county championship also gets underway with the preliminary double chance rounds for the district teams. West Kerry host St Brendan's, St Kierans host South Kerry and Mid Kerry host North Kerry in preliminary round 1. The winners go through to Round 1 proper. The losers will get a second chance in preliminary round 2 on the following weekend. Once round 1 proper starts, it'll be knockout all the way over 4 rounds.

... West Kerry, St Kierans and Mid Kerry all got through preliminary round 1 last weekend. They all move onto round 1 proper.
South Kerry play East Kerry on Friday night. It's East Kerry's first game. They are guaranteed at least 2 games so they progress to round 1 whether they win or lose!! Madness. South Kerry have to win or they'll be eliminated.

The big story from the weekend - Dingle were knocked out. Ghaeltacht secured their senior status. North Kerry were impressive winners. NK might be emerging as challengers to Crokes and East Kerry.

A few one sided county final scorelines at the weekend, Longford, Laois and Wicklow and Tullamore won relatively comfortably in Offaly . Meanwhile very little in the Sligo and Westmeath finals and Leitrim's has to go to a replay.

Nice to see a few clubs who hadn't won a county title in a while, Clonduff in Down their first in 26 years, Clonguish in Longford a first in 17 years, St Marys winning Sligo for the first time in 11 years and the biggest famine coming to an end was An Tóchar winning Wicklow for the first time in 31 years. Kilcoos 14 year dominance in Down only broken by Clonduff this year and Burren 8 years ago. Portarlington have now done a 6 in a row and Tullamore have done a 4 in a row.

Crokes won a cracker of a game against Stacks on Saturday evening. Spa Killarney were dramatic late winners against East Kerry. Semi finals next weekend.
