Replying To omahant: "Win 1 of 3, go to likely QF; win 2 of 3, go to host likely QF. Maybe top 2 to crossover SFs is better.
Give teams a crossover 4th game, if you wish (A1vB4; A2vB3; A3vB2: & A4vB1), before SFs." The Ring Cup this year: 3 weeks of group rounds, a week off and then 2 more weeks of group rounds. 2 groups of 4 - with 2nd v 3rd in quarter finals: 3 weeks of group rounds, a week off, then quarters and semis on consecutive weekends.
The current 6 team groups reverse fixtures in the following year. Just a matter of doing the same for 4 team groups. There needs to be more knockout hurling within reason.

Replying To StoreysTash: "Well, something needs to be done because there is only 1 show in town and it aint hurling right now." We have a big issue with the hurling counties in Leinster, and I exclude Galway from this. We are miles off the Munster hurling counties.
Similarly with football in the hurling province of Munster. The quality of football from most counties down there is shocking.
The GAA should be trying to do a lot more to help bring up the standard of both - additional coaches could be a start.?!

An Ulster Derry v Cavan tie could be a cracker (or something less).
