Split Wicklow In 2 ?????

Just a word of waring to the Kerrys and the Dubs etc, next year ye will all be hitching your wagons to the Wicklow gravy train.

Well said. The east west thing isn't as big a divide as it used be, all county leagues at juvenile have improved things, but the north east, particularly Bray, underperforms when it comes to representation on football teams. Fair play, in hurling they are streets ahead, but football - not really in recent times. Greystones have a few decent players who are available, and Roundwood are probably over represented other clubs like Newtown, who always had a few fine footballers, are gone quiet.

Having watched Dublin vs Kerry, I have come up with a possible solution.

Why not have 2 men stationed on either post. Give them white coats as well.

These people would be best positioned to call if a ball was over the line, or a square ball ?

Might work.

Sponger, I must say you've a wicked sense of humour. At last, I've seen a Wicklow captain walk up the steps of the Hogan stand and accept a cup on behalf of a Wicklow team who won a national title. I know Tommy Gill walked up those same steps to accept the Tommy Murphy cup but it was a competition confined to division four team. And Leighton Glynn did the same when Wicklow won the division four title but this was different - this was a competition with division 3 and 4 teams plus Down who will be playing in Division 2 next February. What really pleased me on Saturday was watching a Wicklow team who had their backs to the wall at half-time but instead of shrinking and fading away - they came roaring back and see out the game. It gave me a great sense of pride to see a Wicklow team playing as a team including the substitutes who came on. This wasn't the way in the past when we had good footballers but they weren't playing as a team. Long may the spirit and resilience be displayed by Wicklow team.

I was at that Tommy Murphy final.

If my (very bad) memory was correct, the match afterwards had the players coming out while Tommy was receiving the cup. I might be wrong.
