Replying To sourmilk93:  "Probably over priced at 7s , they are probably the only team that will put it up to Brigids with Pearses now down two of their better players.

Fergal's last few clubs jobs didn't go great so he will be hoping to improve that with Boyle."
Forever the man who brought Roscommon minor footballers from not winning a championship match outside Connacht since 1951 to winning the All Ireland title in 2006.

Shows what we are capable of when we play to our best by beating All-Ireland Finalists by 10 points.

On the flip side the loss to Monaghan who couldn't beat a 14 man Louth shows how bad we can be when we don't perform on the day.

The work continues to find a consistent Roscommon team.

You might be waiting. The "most Roscommon thing" is a spot on comment.

This Mayo team and the way they are playing is completely different to the Mayo team that we played in April.

Huge and special praise for Roscommon women footballers.

U16s and U18s girls into All-Ireland finals and today the Intermediate team has reach the Croke Park final. Well done to all involved.

When you add in male Connacht titles with Roscommon Seniors,U20s,U17s and Brigids,Strokestown. Not half bad for county of our size and resources

Yes but Louth collapsed yesterday due to the hype in the county and Cork were poor so Mayo had a handy run to the final. Despite being unimpressive and lucky today, I fear Kerry will beat Mayo easily in the final. As for Roscommon, it was a year where we could have gone a lot further in the championship but the dancing at the crossroads after winning a provincial title can't have helped the team's focus for the All Ireland series. Lessons to be learned hopefully for next year.

Played better yesterday however match stats for Mayo v Cork was almost a carbon copy v Roscommon. The difference was the shooting efficiency with Cork' and Roscommon.

Very well said Analyser, and great to hear some positive news for a change. You really put things into perspective by outlining the great performance of eight Roscommon teams this year.
Great to see the ladies under 17's, minor and intermediate teams all making it to All Ireland finals.
Hopefully they will all get great support.

Going by that logic could we say Mayo collapsed in the second half v Roscommon?

Roscommon got a run on Mayo in that second half. There was huge hype in Louth last week and it got to their players. Best of luck to ye v Kerry. Maybe a young Mayo team with no baggage is your best bet of an All Ireland. As for Roscommon, we were capable of a good run in the All Ireland series but flunked it. Too much about winning a Connacht title. That Nestor cup looks less shiny by the day.

We'd have bitten your hand off for a Nestor at the start of the season.

Huge hype in Louth you say…the hype in Roscommon was off the scales. The league and provincials are like the FBD now…irrelevant and I'm not being smart but it's all about performances in July. Teams next year will focus towards peaking at the right time.

Some win for the woman yesterday first time in croker in 25 years with a great chance of winning it. Seen the last 20 mins was a great watch - i will be in croker reluctantly say its a long time since i have been to a womans game but will make the effort. Some great stories within the team of close calls over the past few years Kate Nolan eddies sister coming back from a serious knee injury, Laura Mannion coming back from having a baby afew months ago, 22 point defeat to leitrim, county board stepping down hopefully they can finish the job. Great week for the Roscommon LGFA with the u16. Minor and intermiediates all in the all ireland final.

Would you prefer Mayo's season or Roscommon's season. I'd prefer no Nestor cup and championship wins in Croke Park and an All Ireland appearance to a Connacht title. And what of next year. Would you be happy again with a Connacht title and nowhere in the All Ireland series . Connacht and beating Mayo and Galway cannot be Roscommon's summit. We need to get to croke Park and win in Croke Park. It was there for us this year but we didn't do it.

You're getting carried away now as you've reached another AI Final. A tiny sample of teams actual win All-Irelands with any sort of regularity, so for the rest of us (including you and Mayo) the league and the provincials have great meaning when they are being played. The championship takes over for the summer but the league games next winter will bring great joys and disappointments again. It would be great to see a Connacht team win an All-Ireland as it might give the rest of us some hope, but I reckon come January the first round of Roscommon and Mayo's league will be far from irrelevant, as you say so yourself. Enjoy the final but don't belittle the rest of the season.

New management, load of new players, 8 or 9 Brigids lads on Club duty.....
Staying in D1 and winning Connacht were magnificent achievements.
Next year neither ,while nice, should be priorities .

We didn't perform or beat Monaghan so we were going nowhere in the AI series.

Will you give over. You're not still going on about Roscommons win months ago at the beginning of the championship when Mayo clearly had a new young team and their defense was poor. They are different team now. Despite Louths collapse as you call it, Mayo played with class on Saturday. You're talking about a match that was held in April….we are now in July. So much has changed. All of the teams have evolved but you want to keep us back to the standard in April. Every team in the championship as had a bad day where they lost out by a lot. It's the new game. Move on…

I agree Roscommon had a good season given the number of new players etc. Next year not so much new so I'd hope for a run in the All Ireland series. The reality is that a provincial title does not have the value it once had when it was a passport to an All Ireland semi final.
