Replying To Flemenstar200:  "What you think Kickitout? Any word on Thompson ankle I hear he back running 2/3 weeks ago"
Thompson being back running last 3-4 weeks I can't see many changes next day if Thompson is fit I' personally would start him and get as long as possible out of him it be better than bringing him as I think we have lots of game changer to come in , comer , McGrath, o Laoi Flahery the most area that would concern me is our lack of real pace at 5 and 6 u need to pin dubs back I'd definitely like see maybe o Laoi or flaherty coming into half back line after 50 mins , one thing that won't work v dubs is if Galway load one side field for our own kickouts in reality it servers no purpose and last 2 matches in particular Galway in fairness have moved away from that , need keep Darcy , Tierney Maher separated on our own kickouts and maybe even try hit Mcdaid at times in the centre forward Chanel , match ups are big thing dubs have good inside forwards need keep Glynn , Hernon and silke in full back area at all times they our best man markers , also need stop Kilkenny and scully from supplying them u stop them at source u win match im Galway forwards will give Dublin plenty to think about also , Finnerty needs good game has gone off it a bit this year bar Kildare match , and we definitely need cut out kicking ball in goalie hands its killing us decision making will win this game

Yes, you would have to think about starting Thompson if he is ready to go. The Dubs will look to win the breaking ball around the middle, we will need to show urgency and determination to prevent them getting a foothold there. We need to move the ball quicker, look at Armaghs ponderous laternal play against Kerry and where it got them, lots of possession but no teeth. Need a big game from Maher, he was quiet enough by his standards against Westmeath, need the lads to really step up now. It was clear to me within 10 minutes of last years QF that we were flat and not at the races. We need to start quick and keep at it and see how the Dubs energy levels are like after last weeks extra time.

Lads will ye be real. Thompson is not starting a quarter final when he's back running for 2 weeks and his last intercounty game was exactly this weekend 12 months ago

A substitute cameo in a semi final if they got there is what you'd be hoping for. His vision coming on at a similar time to Comer would scare a lot of tired defenses

Crazy talk to start Thompson the lad has not played a competitive match all year an had an operation. If "fit" and has been training away would like see him in 26 and perhaps give him 15 mins. Thowing him straight in to Dubs in Croker would be crazy in my opinion.

Seems like our starting 15 is fairly locked in at this stage. Agree with the sentiment above you can't expect Thompson to be able to go in from the start after being away since the FBD and then also suffering a fairly serious injury.

The reality is with Thompson is that if he was fit and ready to play, he would play. The fact that he's not named suggests he's not close. We all want him to play but no point saying he should start if he's not fully back training yet. At this rate I doubt we'd even see him on a 26 for a semifinal or final even if we got there.
