Down from Div 3 just knocked out the Ulster and Div. 1 League champions out of Ulster Sunday. The rankings are irrelevant really for championship knockout competition. I thought the Cork v Meath game was really great, would have those two teams much higher up the list. Meath were fantastic at times but what a final quarter from Cork. Hard to argue with that top 4 teams of Armagh, Donegal, Kerry and Galway. I'd say Kerry would still be no.1 when they get their players back but Armagh and Donegal look good. So Armagh are Ulster Champions and unbeaten. They scraped by Tyrone in extra time. Roscommon won Connacht well, but Tyrone went away from home and beat them. Context is everything. Their loss in Ulster was a 1 point defeat after extra-time to the team he has at the top of his rankings. Their win was away to a team who had finished 4th in the league, had comfortably beaten Mayo and then beat Galway to win Connacht. Yeah 5th is too high right now. Beat Mayo and they are probably in that region but not right now. Truth is you can throw a blanket from 5th to 14th. Any of those sides can beat each other and can topple one of the big four. Winning it all though does seem a tad much though for them.
