Best draw we could have hoped for being honest. Westmeath are Leinster champions and they will be given due respect but if we can't beat a division 3 team we have no business in this championship. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1776 - 02/06/2026 14:48:49 2677355 Link 1 |

Qualifying for QF beating 2 D3 teams. In QF, they will be up against a team plying 3 weeks on the trot. Jack L (None) - Posts: 3213 - 02/06/2026 15:20:44 2677361 Link 0 |

We went the hard way 3 years in a row if anyone deserves an easy draw this year it's us!

We haven't beaten them yet. Westmeath could turn us over. Leinster champions have won the most All-Irelands in the last 15 years, so we'll be up against it.

I'm sure alot of us thought meath was an 'easy' draw last year too but it didn't turn out that way

100%. They beat Meath who had quiet easily beaten us 11 months ago. They beat Dublin who beat us in Salthill last summer, before almost slipping up to Cavan. Our recent championship form is still very questionable. It is a great home draw for us but by no means can a win we taken for granted.

We got the easiest draw in the hat.......twice in a row. Whether we win, lose or draw v Westmeath, it's still irrefutably the easiest available draw.

I wouldn't say irrefutably. Very debatable whether Louth and Cork are better than Westmeath. I'd argue Westmeath are better than both at the moment, but not a lot in it. They dealt with Meath more easily than Cork did. They were also more impressive against Dublin than Louth.

No team will ever give up their home. advantage and could you blame them. There will be a decent crowd there. A lot will travel from Westmeath.. God help them if they don't allow plenty of time to park etc etc. No neutral will travel. Hopefully the day will be dry because it's a terrible spot on a wet day. Wind is almost guaranteed. If it's a sunny day the prom will be packed which won't help parking either. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2470 - 03/06/2026 10:16:15 2677516 Link 0 |

I think very few losers of 2A will make quarter finals. 2B winners look like they will be stronger. gaillimhboy (Galway) - Posts: 415 - 03/06/2026 10:30:08 2677521 Link 0 |

Galway v Kerry quarter final in a monsoon with both sides kicking from everywhere ala 2008. I can see it now. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 465 - 03/06/2026 10:42:13 2677529 Link 0 |

Westmeath have been hiding it under a bushel for awhile, if they're as good as Cork, who'll be 2 divisions above them in NFL 2027.

Hard way? 2025 Just needed to beat winless Derry to reach the knock out stages. ThenDrew Down to reach the All-Ireland Quarter-final. 2024 and 2023 just needed to beat Westmeath to reach the knock out stages. Drew Monaghan at home to reach the quarter-finals. 2023 drew Mayo at home to reach the Quarter final and lost Mayo who were far from great as seen in their quarter final performance. Seems like an odd venue alright. Wonder if the thinking is that it's relatively close to Dublin so it'll allow any Galway supporters that want to make the Leinster hurling final as well get there on time

Cant really compare Westmeath with the great Dublin team. Westmeath of course has had a great year. But, I think this is a level too far for them. Struggled to beat a poor Cavan team last time out
