The CCCC committee than the chairman choose the venue.

@ Saynothing (Tyrone) not about distance would be a welcome change for a Roscommon underage team to not play Ulster opposition in a Ulster venue. It's over a decade since that happened I believe.

Would certainly not be underestimating Derry, poor in the 2nd half granted against impressive looking Tyrone however were leading at half time and Ulster Runners-ups have all been strong the last few years. Lack of competitive action leaves us very much unknown.

Kerry 0-21 Tyrone 1-10 in the U20 All-Ireland final today. Gives some perspective on Roscommon bringing Kerry to extra-time and holding them to 0-11 in 60 minutes.

And Roscommon had a chance to win it in normal time as we were well on top in the second half.

Very strange game yesterday. Tyrone were well on top early in the final and lead by 8 points (1-7 to 0-2) after about 17 minutes and looked to be the best team. Then Kerry took complete control at midfield and kicked 19 points to Tyrones 3 points to win it by eight. They also lost their captain and corner forward Paddy Lane to injury so it was some turn around.
We will certainly see some of these young Roscommon players play at senior level in the future.

Hopefully the minors will progress next weekend.

Did that mean the changes worked eventually?"
It means exactly what I said. The bench made a big difference and that is why if used properly can be the winning of games. Hand made an impact as soon as he came on.

We'll see who we draw tomorrow morning. We don't have a great championship record in The Hyde but I still hope we get a home draw. No room for errors now. If we lose, we're out. I never saw more Roscommon flags flying up the county. Hope it doesn't all end in mid June.

I was referring to the changes in defence.
We scored 1-9 in each half.
We conceded over twice as much 1st half than 2nd (2-11 to 1-5). We only subbed 1 defender.
Suggests our rearranged defence got to grips with things in the second half??

What do you think the starting 15 should be for our next game.

Dowdy will pick the real team but I'd be inclined to go back to the starting 15 v Galway, not that my opinion is relevant or anything!

Knew I wouldn't be surprised by the U17 All-Ireland Quarter-finals venue. It's Ulster opposition in Ulster venue again and Breffni Park again.

Saturday June 6th 7pm
Derry v Roscommon in Breffni Park.

There can be no complaints. It was always going to be Breffni park. Cavan town is closer to Roscommon than it is to Derry. Best of luck to Shane Moran and his team on Saturday evening.

Of course they can be complaints and why was it always going to Breffni Park?

It's Monaghan in Clones for our senior footballers. Avoided Kerry though would prefer a home draw. Monaghan battling qualities in Armagh,Mayo was seen and can imagine it will be even more for this in a knock out championship game.

If we were in round A it would be Mayo in Hyde Park. Galway will be happy with their draw once again.

Why do you think it was always going to be Breffni Park. Not in the middle of Derry and Roscommon as you already stated. No venue chosen for Tyrone v Galway yet and hopefully Galway aren't playing an Ulster team in Ulster like Roscommon.

That's a tricky fixture for Roscommon Seniors. Monaghan showed their credentials against Derry,Armagh and Mayo they'll fight to the end something Roscommon will need to be ready for

My geography is fine thanks. Roscommon in Connacht. Derry in Ulster. Match in Breffni in Ulster.

I would much prefer a home tie than a trip to Clones. You always pop up on this thread when we are about to play Monaghan.

Yes another sticky draw, where we are favourites again. If we haven't sorted our the spine of our defence, we have no place going any further in the championship.

Vetern still licking his wounds from Brigids walking over Scottstown. Look we've no business going into the next round unless we beat Monaghan by 7 points. They've a load of injuries and can't seem to get a break. This never say die attitude and last twenty mins of do or die football can't carry you every game. If mayo had any bit of cuteness or
Defensive awareness they'd have won that match by 8plus. They've won't fear us one bit but we have to go out and get the job done this time. Otherwise we're nearly men for another year.

Well lads, I think its a good draw for both teams. Roscommon know that if they perform to their top level they have points to spare over Monaghan, whereas we can see a path to winning also despite the injury carnage currently happening. The Tyrone Ros game was one of the best contests I've seen in a long time, just a goalkeeper error swinging it away from Roscommon. In fairness Mayo had Monaghan under control for most of the game last Sunday so we have a lot to do to bridge a gap as you are a good bit ahead of them. Set up nicely.

Not the worst draw to get, would have been nice to get a home game but if you can't beat the likes of Monaghan with no disrespect you're not going any further in this competition. I looked at the draw for 2a and it's kind of gone as well as it could have. I would think Armagh.Donegal and Galway will win. So if we win the next game there's a great chance to get to QF.

Would you complain if you had to play the final against Dublin in Croke Park ? This final was always going to be Cavan or Enniskillen.

We're now at the business end and a 50/50 tough taster is just what we need.
Win and we're into a hurricane of potential 3 big games in succession.
Meanwhile Galway get Leitrim, Kildare and Westmeath to reach a Quarter Final.
