Talking to a few involved flood lights back in use the reason given and they weren't turned on until the 2nd half last night. The later throw in time did not improve the attendance figures with still mostly parents or other family members of the players attending. A shame as this grade produces some of the best quality matches and given the commitment with study and exams the players involved deserve better support. Main talking point of tonight's club championship draw is group B in Senior and that one of Clann,Roscommon Gaels,Boyle or Pearses will play in a relegation play off. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4324 - 02/04/2026 21:29:22 2664505 Link 0 |

I believe the condensed season has a lot to do with attendance along with the re grading. The same interest just isn't there at u17 and u20 from the general public. League is just over and championship coming fast with many rossis and Mayo people making trips to NYC and London. We are in a cost of living crisis and it's likely going to get worse. People simply can't afford to go to as many games anymore. The fact most are streamed also affects attendance.

Given the lack discussion on the various threads on here regards U17,U20 games I don't think many bother to purchase streams of the matches either. I agree the season is too condensed and I haven't I checked my bank balance for a while, it won't look too healthy after attending all senior,U17,U20 games so far this year. On the road again tonight and best of luck to the Roscommon U17s in Castlebar. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4324 - 03/04/2026 12:32:38 2664566 Link 0 |
