It's a very different role though coming into the county set up. No doubt there is some talent there with Burns but he was consistently the first or second option in the Loughrea forward line with Shaughnessy and probably getting 15 possessions in a half where you might lose a few of them but you are getting loads of chances of good ball coming your way. Coming into a county set up where ball runs through Whelan, Concannon and gets run through midfield an awful lot means you might only get four or five balls in a half. If you don't win the majority of them you are completely out of the game (e.g Limerick game). Same with Collins to an even greater extent where he is Cappy's only option inside.

Burns will probably make an impact in some game this year but I would say McLoughlin might be ahead of him to start just based off performing well against Kilkenny and he has pace low to the ground which we don't have a lot of. I wouldn't even be surprised if you see Aaron Niland on the bench once the u20 is near finished. They have had him in with the squad since start of the pre season so there must be some sort of plan there.

2/3 weeks out from the Kilkenny game depending on your maths ability. Still feel this is a season defining game even so it's round 1. Genuinely looking forward to the year ahead and hopefully three trips to Croker! (Haven't seen where the Dublin game is fixed for so hopefully 4 if there lol)

Burns is literally the only goal threat I can see ( and McLoughlin) in the Galway full forward line. Whelan is always doubled up on now. Concannon hasn't performed in about 2 years, niland absent from play, cooney is no longer a goal scoring threat. Goals win matches Galway have to improved delivery. Time for O'Shea to earn his crust

Your never from Loughrea?? I would say no need to run down Whelan and the likes after all the good games they have gave to the shirt. Burns played one good game against Clare where they played their second 15 and he was half marked by an extreamly weak no. 2 who will never be seen on the panel come championship. How many goals did Burns score against Limerick?? Burns may or may not be a goal treat but has not proven it against decent opposition as of yet. A dose of reality needed here.

Fair enough but it's far more than Collins has done for galway to date and my post was in reply to one saying 'Collins couldn't possibly be as ineffective' as some of the players who played in those games. Fact is Burns an McLoughlin have done more with their opportunities and he hasn't shown anything to suggest he would have got a touch aganst Cork or Limerick
