Replying To S1234:  "You still think you will beat us by a point or two when we beat Tyrone by 7 and you lost to them by a point...

Mayo by 4 . When's the last time you beat us anyways 2012 ?"
If we applied your logic, we beat Cavan by 19, and they beat you by 3, so therefore we should win by 22. Football just doesn't work like that.

I'd say in 2012 you were still wearing nappies. Should you not be revising; Junior Cert starting tomorrow.

Oh stop will you…I'd swap all our victories over Donegal for that 2012 final. Also going by your above logic sure we lost well to Cavan and Donegal walloped them out the gate….please think before you type.

Donegal will be favs for this game. Can Mayo back up the Tyrone victory with another win? That's the big question.

I forgot about that 1-14 - 1-12 win over Mayo in Ballybofey, after 2015 I switched off for a remainder of the Rory Gallagher reign in charge.

With Kevin McStay stepping down on health grounds (Hope is doing well btw) and Stephen Rochford assuming temporary control, its definitely possible that Mayo will go on a run, as Rochford has a good record in taking Mayo on a long summer.

People are for some reason too quick to write Mayo off, its been happening for years now, yet they always bounce back and that is only possible when a team has serious talent.

I don't think the Tyrone game was a true reflection of what Donegal are capable of, and I also don't think the Cavan game was a true reflection of what Mayo are capable of. I expect this to be a tight game, could be a draw.

I'd snap your hand off for that draw now. I wonder would both teams settle for it if they are level going down the stretch…?

If Galway were to finish 2nd in group 4, Mayo would be mad not to jump at the draw

They wouldn't be able to draw Galway so they'd likely face a trip to Meath or Down.

Mayo and Armagh supporters the big winners with the venues announced today. It is ironic in a week when there is a lot of talk about Donegal people being forced to travel for health appointments which is obviously a far more serious issue. It is 100 miles from Ballybofey in the centre of Donegal and very much further from many other parts. It is only around 30 odd miles from the likes of Charlestown,Claremorris and Ballyhaunis to Roscommon.Jim talked about our supporters being put through the ringer, well it looks like we are going to through another cycle.Would Croke Park with a bit of comfort not have been a better option, not much further for a lot of the county. After all it is only 130 miles from Lifford to dublin.

For Donegal supporters it might be better to go to longford and use the N63 into Roscommon. It's definitely a bit longer but you'd avoid the roadworks you mention and not run into mayo traffic.

Just thinking of who will play the next day. Aidan O'Shea has been difficult for us the handle through the years. He's bullied us and Michael Murphy has let him affect his game sometimes. Two years ago mccole struggled with him in a league game in ballybofey. Mcmenamin played his first game of the year on him in castlebar so guess that might be the option. If I were mayo I'd be trying a few long balls in though they've not done that too much this year.

When may have brought that kind of manic intensity Donegal have struggled with it. They battered us in 2013 when they were coming into their pomp and mcGuinness won't have fond memories of that. In 2019 they bullied us again in the first half in castlebar and their intensity dropped in the second half Donegal did get back into it but kind of lost their composure and kicked a pile of wides. Paddy durcan was excellent that day too and he's back as well. It's overall a much changed mayo team now and but they still are best when bring that intensity. I guess Donegal will be looking to avoid that contact and play their running game and although not get bullied, not get distracted from the way they play either.

Ye definitely got the short straw in terms of distance but we've been travelling all over the country for years without seeing our county win Sam. I'm not sure any other venue was a possibility given the circumstances. McGuinness stated he didn't want Donegal going to Croke Park, Cavan was a non runner with their county playing the same time (no stewards/officials available).

Ah come on Mayo have had to travel for years is well . You wanted it in Cavan but Cavan can't be used with their home game same day .

Croker can't be used with the rugby on . Maybe Carrick on Shannon might have been fairer .

Though the Hyde is the only available place with the capacity that it can fit . As it will be near a sell out game ..

Every county has to travel for matches not just poor old Donegal .

Yes I would definitely recommend supporters to come into Roscommon from the Longford side with the road works in place. Most of the Mayo support will be coming via Frenchpark too.
