I see fairly strong wind forecast for Sunday whatever about rain it will have a big impact on the game, this is going to be a real battle, I get the feeling from that people they think we will win handy enough but I don't agree at all,
Cavan have great players and they will be full of confidence at home with a big crowd coming after the win away to Mayo this will be a real battle in tough conditions I think, we need a far better performance this time out.

And by the way, you pick out one sort sentence from a paragragh about donegal youth developed and make generalisations about my character and how long ive been following donegal!! Anyway, the original piece was put up to get other peoples oppinions on the youth setup within donegal."
That.post form the Galway poster was a fair one. I was at the match and I was a frustrated with Donegal at times but it does take two to make a poor game and both contributed to that. Donegal staying in such a defensive position for that last 5 or so of normal time was a little too defensive to my mind.
In et Tyrone kind of just caught them with the glut of two pointers before they even realised what hit them.

From an overall point of of view i'd like to see more kicking to men in the inside line. It's a tough job running up and down the pitch all day.
Donegal have probably been 2nd or 3rd best 20s team this last 2 years and Derry in a similar boat.

The 15s didn't result look great but think there were two teams that day and you just don't know. The same weekend the 16s gave Dublin a right good beating and Lacey is working with that team.

Ignoring that not winning it's quality players coming through that you want. There are at leat a few from the 20s this year. Roarty obviously and can mcmenamin did really look a player against cavan and had the unfortunate injury. And some of the many four masters lads as well. Though from there years ago that also lost in et to Tyrone there is only ciaran Moore really established and he was a sub in many games. Perhaps he was injured a bit. Mccolgan kind of went back a bit this year. Even Tyrone have not that many in the senior team.

Might not win handily but we should be winning no questions asked. If we don't, we may as well forget about a quarter final

Would be of the same view. When Cavan beat Mayo I was wary of this game especially as we have 7 days and they have 2 weeks to prepare. Throw in their home advantage and our defeat last weekend and it has the potential to be a difficult day. Cavan 2020 lurks in the back of my mind still. I do think we will hopefully see an angry Donegal, determined to put last weekend's mistakes to right and conscious that there is little or no more room for error. If we tidy the shot execution, the basics of possession and improve the kickout then I do think we will win but now is the time that the metal of this team is going to be tested. I feel this squad is very talented and always did think that over the years but they have to step up now. No reliance on the two Michaels, every man delivering because if this team is to be taken seriously as an All Ireland contender, that is what is needed.

Yeah I'd be of the same opinion. We need to get the win no ifs or buts. From speaking to a few Cavan friends they're very wary of Oisín Gallen. He destroyed them in the league game last year. I know Gallen doesn't look to be moving as freely or as confidently this year. But it would be fantastic if he can recapture his 2024 form, not only for himself, but it would ease the pressure on Murphy, and put an end to the chat that we're starting to become overly reliant on him again.

Cavan are a team to be respected though, especially after their win in Mayo. I think they're definitely a team that thrives when they get a bit of momentum. We can't let me them build up a head of steam, the Breffni crowd will quickly get behind them if they do, and they'll sense blood in the water.

Ironically, Cavan have for the last few years had better results away from home than in Breffni.

No McGee, Niall O Donnell or McGonagle for this weekend. McGee has not had a run of games all year at all, been a bit part in some games and absent in others. We really need to get him fit if we have any aspirations of doing well, he is badly missed around the middle.

Another factor is just the time. Donegal were flying last year and cork still caught them. Now it's a Sunday game not a Saturday game so that helps and it's not a 6/7 hour journey to Cork on a Friday. A huge amount is done off the field with the analysis and preparation in training. Cavan have at least 5 proper training sessions. 2 last week, 2 this week and plenty time on Saturday or Sunday last. Donegal might have 1 or 1 and a half.
Donegal are definitely carrying niggles and mcgonagle is a big loss and there's no McGee or Niall O'Donnell either.

I've an overall bee in my bonnet about the system but it is what it is.

I'm sure the players that's didn't do themselves justice are chopping at the bit and hope there is a big crowd going to roar them on. Breffni is an overall fine place for a match and can create a very decent atmosphere. Come on Donegal.

Mcgonagle is a big loss at 6. Stories going round that McGee might never be back , would be a pity for the player if its true. He's out best ball winner

Anyone know what the story is with Niall O'Donnell and Jason McGee?

We won't have him for rest of season

McGee is injured or unavailable every few games. Annoying but it is what it is.
If he's never going to play regularly we seriously need to find a replacement.

Why are you writing players off? On the 18th of May you posted Eoin Ban wouldn't see any game time. The medical team sort players and they play when available, nobody plays 100% injury free. Sure, we all had niggles going into any game, some mornings I couldn't get out of the bed and then the car with pain and stiffness after a heavy training or physical match. Keep the faith, Jason will be driving us in the middle of the pitch in a few weeks.

I hope your right, I'd love to see Jason back, I think we won't go too far without him, on that note I also think unless we put the focus on the All Ireland and less on Ulster then we will have a hard time getting another Sam Maguire.
Tyrone had time to get bodies recovered and they are in poll position in our group now.

Jason hasn't been fit for more than 3 or 4 games in a row for a long time. He's barely played this season. Hope you're right though.
