I hope this issue gets resolved and quickly. You on the other hand want an individuals head on a plate. Did he annoy Mayo in the past? peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1184 - 09/02/2023 13:59:25 2457470 Link 0 |
Karl Lacey should not have had to quit. The people or person responsible for him going should be chased. The academy was a brilliant set up rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2613 - 09/02/2023 14:08:58 2457472 Link 1 |
Not really he was part of an embarrassing training regime in the 90s that had Mayo players pushing cars around car parks. They were gone shortly after. Wasn't there long enough to annoy anyone.

100 percent right, it takes a mayo man to talk some sense.

Michael Mc Geehin top man been around a good few counties must know something. He also trained Finn Harps when Charlie mc Keevor was manager. He also coached Tipp with Charlie. He also coached Fermanagh with John Maughan. He was the brains behind a lot of initiaves in Sport Ireland.Should be delighted to have a man of his calibre on board imo. neutral (None) - Posts: 358 - 09/02/2023 15:15:50 2457488 Link 1 |
People highlighting coaching roles from counties from years ago like. Friends with John Maughan from their army days. Absolutely no relevance to what has happened in Donegal. This is 2023 maybe people should focus on that.

He is Director of Coaching in Sport Ireland - a national body. Is that 'relevant' enough for you? Mayo's answer to Lord Sugar. What is your connection to Donegal? You have over 7000 posts on the Mayo page and suddenly you pop up on the Donegal page on one specific topic with very accurate information from the academy side. Who has asked you to post on here? peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1184 - 09/02/2023 15:55:24 2457498 Link 4 |
I played senior football in Donegal for 2 years. Have loads of friends up there. Would know a few ex players up there. Who asked me to post? Lol. A week ago I was some lad who was posting rumours and now people are still annoyed that I am someone who actually knows what is happening. And people keep highlighting the coaching officer and his qualifications in another role. Totally irrelevant to the current situation. John Delaney was the main man in the FAI for a long, long time. I suppose you think he was brilliant as well? Again I ask you to stick to the story here, instead of saying " it can't be yer mans fault, he has a good job" Sometimes people want to have control over everything and don't listen to the experts on the ground. Also I have commented many times on things outside of Mayo. It isn't my fault HS changed the website and made stories county specific. This is a massive story. It just happens to be in your county .

Is anyone brave enough to come out and say it like it is in regards to what the hell is going on in Donegal at the minute? No more of this vague nonsense - what exactly is going on? HowManyStepsRef (Donegal) - Posts: 302 - 09/02/2023 16:13:37 2457504 Link 0 |
He has a big job in a national body therefore can't be at fault. Your logic is absolutely hilarious.

The whole executive needs to go as they clearly do not have the best interests of Donegal at heart. They are interested in protecting themselves only. Jim McGuinness, Michael Murphy, and Paddy McGrath were all due to come into the academy coaching set-up in January but this will not now happen. ryan (Donegal) - Posts: 748 - 09/02/2023 16:55:53 2457514 Link 0 |
In fairness, I'll take accurate information from wherever I can get it. Okay, Flaker may have an agenda (or may not), but it's about time someone brought a new agenda, because the ways things are done at County Board level has deteriorated badly in recent years. We should strive to have the best people involved. If the problem is finance, well I'm sure the right people will support the effort, as long as they can see where and how the money is being spent. A bit of transparency goes a long way. But if we're content to have an Academy in name only, with the wrong people there for the wrong reasons, we're destined to repeat the errors of the past. I want to hear views from all sides and make up my own mind. SouthOfTheGap (Donegal) - Posts: 765 - 09/02/2023 17:16:32 2457517 Link 0 |
On a separate note great to see the number of groups supporting the elderly attacking the GAA GAA in relation to their cashless ticketing policy, not before time either. The GAA supposed to be championing community!, Not if you are over a certain age! totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 1052 - 09/02/2023 17:23:52 2457519 Link 1 |
We scored enough against Kerry didn't we? Great to see Oisin Gallen back playing, hope he's fit for the Monaghan game now, if he puts Hughie in at FF it gives us a great option to vary the attack, big O'Shea for Mayo done well the last day in a similar role, I think Hughie hasn't the pace for the middle third anymore, he'd be good in the full back line too in certain games, I'm hopeful enough still after our showing against Kerry, potential is still good when we have a full squad to pick from, I have no idea about what's going on with the resignations etc, but I hope it's all sorted out soon for the good of the GAA in the county, we have enough problems without making more for ourselves by infighting. Thanks for the insights most of which are of no surprise. I sincerely hope you're right when you say a full sweep and reform is on its way. It's been obvious for a while the board is steeped in a jobs for the boys culture and an absolute laughing stock in certain respects.

I think while the Mayo man is getting questioned on this thread about his insights and motives regarding the hierarchical structures within Donegal GAA, maybe the words of the coaches should be listened to. Donegal_abroad (Donegal) - Posts: 1403 - 09/02/2023 20:28:22 2457548 Link 2 |
I am passing on information from people who I trust 100 per cent. Good, smart, football people who cannot believe what is going on in their county. Nothing more than that. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8366 - 09/02/2023 21:50:30 2457561 Link 0 |
