Replying To masseyferguson:  "That wasn't their second team in 14."
Shane Walsh and Damien Comer playing, definitely not a second team! Jaysus can we not ever enjoy a day under the sun and acknowledge when we fulfilled potential, even when we didnt get a connacht title at the end of it. Thankfully the U20 is no longer straight knockout, gives teams more chances to play at their level.

With the reporting in the local media this week I thought we had beaten Mayo!

Watched back on the full first half of Mayo v Leitrim again last night, one point behind and really should have been 3/4 points in front but for the wasteful shooting. It's the best and most organised I've seen Leitrim set up for Championship match in a long time.

Have to agree. If you compared that performance to any championship performance under either Andy Moran or Terry Hyland it was night and day. Very encouraged after watching it back. Great result Wednesday night also, some green shoots after a terrible start to the year. Encouraging.

I'd say most of your posts so far are on Leitrim thread. Bizarre

Brilliant performances from Minors & U20 teams. Considering our poor record of recent years winning the Shield o& progress to the B championship is our current level. Some fine individual talent on both teams that looks promising for the future. A good run in the Tailteann Cup looks good with the return to full fitness of Barry,Cillian& Donal will be a massive boost. If we repeat the performance against an admittedly limited Mayo then we will be hard to beat. That result suits us as we not yet at the level to compete in the All-Ireland series.Poacher & his management team deserves enormous credit & hopefully will silence that section of Your posters who seem to delight in attacking successive Leitrim managers .

Take your pick. The Leitrim posters on this thread have forgotten more about Mayo football than you'll ever know.

Nearly half of them have been so far... and of low value. But anyhow you're only new so we'll not hold it against you.

Well said, however you are asking a lot to ask those posters to give any manager a chance.

I'd prefer to call things as I see them, if I'm watching a team over and over again and I keep seeing the same mistakes on the pitch and on the line, I will call it as I see it. Why wouldn't I? This is a forum where people give their opinion.

I would gave all Leitrim managers a chance but I can't be positive for the sake of being positive.

I gave Poacher and his management team credit after the Mayo game we looked organised, looked fitter, looked quicker, and had a bit of bite in them (which hasnt been seen in years and is badly needed) but that's one game, let's see how the rest of the year goes. I like all leitrim supporters hope it goes well.

100%. Poacher & his management team have a lot to prove after the league campaign, one performance does not change that.

So tell me this, a chairde, just what exactly has changed from Poacher's Leitrim during the league and Poacher's Leitrim during the championship? I'm absolutely delighted with how the team did against Mayo, but only a couple of weeks ago we were ready for him to pack his bags. Why/how did Leitrim find form against Mayo that they wouldn't/couldn't in the League?

A few suggestions

The return of Barry McNulty and Donal Casey plus Cillian McGloin who only featured towards the end of the campaign after surgery.

He had little time to prepare for the league and was dealing with a very inexperienced panel due to the departures which prompted Mikey Graham to walk.

He was then hit with a spate of new injuries, McNulty, Jordon Reynolds,Harkin bros, Conor Quinn are just some.

He was depending on 6 under 20 players ,which is unprecedented for any county.

In those circumstances it wasn't too surprising the results were poor.

However, the performance against Mayo was still a huge surprise and the team was well prepared.Let us hope they can build on this ;only time will tell.
