Meath v Wexford

By Jaysus if your talking about your corner back Reilly marking chin it's going be players all over the shop as chinner is our corner back :-/ as also the most likely to be dropped been honest... And if it's the other Reilly I would very very much doubt that chin will be told to mark him as he is our second losest marker :-//.

Lads Lee Chin played at corner back against Louth so K Reilly won't be marking him.

Regarding playing Reilly or Menton at 3. While Reilly is the probably the best we have at this position, he's also too injury prone which cost us big time last year against Dublin. Too many changes required at the time unhinged the defense. I feel it would be a better option to go with Menton, with Reilly in midfield in place of Gillespie. Having said that, I expect Gillespie to start with Reilly at 3, Menton at 4 and King at 6. On the specifics of midfield, Gillespie for me just doesn't cut it at this level and I'd actually play Joe in this position before him. Have been pleasantly surprised by the recent displays from Meade who seems to be finally developing into the midfielder that a lot of people expected.

Lads the fact is that MOD is new to the intercounty scene and i dont think he will make the changes necessary for instance bringing king back was a step backwards and mickey burke needs to be dropped but he more than likely wont be which shows MOD has no faith in his bench and i wouldnt blame him either except for the 3 lads making their debuts last week the rest have all been tried and failed menton(GENERALLY EVERYONES FAVOURITE FOR CENTRE BACK) was lost at sea at CHB against kildare 2 years ago and lenihan didnt perform great on the wing that year either. I think the wicklow game was the game to try something new instead of going back to the same old story now we go in to another potential banana skin with a team which half played well against poor opposition and he is now afraid to change a (winning team). I would put money on it that when we loose our first game there will be changes made for the qualifier and that team picked will be even worse because they will have not played together in the championship. That said I think we should have enough as its rare that stephen goes 2 games in a row without scoring and I expect that newman should get of the mark. Ideally our 4 recognised scorers biggy bray newman wallace should do enough but my only fear is that biggy will do his usual trick and have an excellent first half in croke park but then do nothing in the second half.

Royalcountyman disgaree with your comment about Menton at CHB against Kildare in 2011. He was outstanding in the first half at CHB against Eoghan O Flaherty.
Banty switched him with Shane McAnarney in the second half cos McAnarney was being roasted by James Kavanagh in the corner. Menton did well on Kavanagh too but he was missed at CHB with Kildare coming through the middle every time. In fairness McAnarney did well in the qualifiers at CHB....I think Menton broke his hand and missed the qualifiers.

would have to question the meath management team on some of their decisions during the wicklow game ,we have to remember that wicklow are now a div 4 team and we struggled to win and only for good fortune we would probably have got bet. Everyone seems to think that m'od should be given three years to get it right, banty had brought this team to a leinster final and he got no support from within the county. Wexford have been around for several years and i believe that this meath team will struggle to win on sunday, wexford have natural scoring forwards and a decent midfield . while we hope that certain meath players have a good day as said earlier in the posts that steven bray would probably not go two games without scoring, I think that sums up our team hoping for the best instead of having the best, i wish our lads the best of luck on sunday and hope i am wrong.

Hoopfan- Banty was trying to impose a northern style of play on players who had never played that way all their lives. I backed him when he was in the job but we achieve nothing bar a Kildare win in the 2 years he was there. We made a Leinster final but were hammered, the score line flattered us. MOD has a gameplan as far as I can see. He's focused on pace. Not a bad idea, particularly if you have an accurate free taker. We got promoted from
Div 3 which wasn't as easy as you'd think with Cavan and Fermanagh, both solid teams hot on our heels.

We were always going to beat Wicklow. Even if the penalty had gone in and KORs goal never happened, we were the better team. They were banging high ball in as their plan A from half time, and although I don't think it's great form to criticise referees as they are amateur and giving up their time just like the players, I though he favoured Wicklow and we still won.

I agree with your team and i'd have Harnan in for Lenihan he and Burke has to go..it is a bit worring that we are chopping our half-back line about so much but it's for the better..

Cabbage- have to question you on m'od plans to use pace in the team ,where's the pace - newman ,bray, byrne ,sheridan, farrell, meade, gillispee, burke, king, menton, its the same as last year apart from wallace, but that pace is canceled out with forde missing.

kingofclubs I wont argue with yeah but i didnt think he had a great game but anyway I think that he has the capability to be be a good wing back as I just dont think he is comfortable with a key defensive position ,in pairc tailteann when we got relegated against louth his man won alot of kickouts from breaks and cleanly too and practically set up all of the louth attacks that day. What would you think of possibly playing harnan at CHB he has a good build for the position and seems to have good hands when coming out with the ball he has a good running game especially of the shoulder I think he would influence the game more than caoimhin would anyway

My Meath Team for Sunday

1.P.O'Rourke
2.D.Keoghan
3.K.Reilly
4.C.Young
5.S.Kenny
6.B.Menton
7.C.King
8.B.Meade
9.C.Gilespe
10.P.Byrne
11.D.Carroll
12.G.Reilly
13.E.Wallace
14.J.Sheridan
15.M.Newman

I have left out S.Bray because he is performing badly for Meath on a consist basis and we as supporters need to realise that time to forget about him and maybe he should go the same way as C.Ward

Kingofclubs what's the story with you and Menton???? Do you not see anyone else on the pitch, looked back on your posts and they are all defending him. You are either his girlfriend or daddy?????

Sheridan shoulnt start. For me hes blown too many chances and is frustrating to watch. When forwards hit wild balls or drop the head it filters through the team. For a few years we were crying out for leaders on the pitch and none of the "senior players" delivered. If game is in melting pot with 10-15 mins left hed be a good sub

Why have so many people got king in their teams? Not having a go at the man, but I didn't see anything in wicklow that convinced me he should start this game, id take kenny, harnan, even Burk who had some excuse coming back from injury over him. Play menton at chb or don't play him at all would be my view.

It will not be easy on Sunday against Wexford. Hope Meath have not used all their luck for the season with the breaks against Wicklow the last day, the freak goal after the poor Wicklow penalty.

Jack l , "used all there luck ? "
Come on even if Wicklow had scored the penalty our work rate was far superior and at no time was luck called in . Wexford lost pace toward the end of the Louth game and fitness was key and I'm banking on our fitness to push us on and I wouldnt play the luck card yet ,keeping that for the next match .

Bert09 Agreed Sheridan not up to it. Never understood the hype around him. Always saw him as very average at best. We need mobility in our game now,and Joe was never mobile enough for intercounty. Give the younger players championship experience
