Meath v Wexford

Wouldn't be surprised to see either Menton or Reilly moving to midfield to replace Gillespie, who I thought was poor against Wicklow. Menton was lost in the corner and it's the only possible reasoning I can come up with for playing King at 6.

Agree that G Reilly will drop back into midfield - he was put into forward for Wicklow temporarily (as they knew the story from 2012)

Moylagh menton was put in corner back for a reason to help out with seanie furlong when necessary it's only temporary. And king was only put in because of injures to Davy dalton and eoghan Harrington. Whether or not he starts is up to daltons and Harringtons fitness

Anyone see g. Reilly moving into mid field, move bray out to wing forward and bring in joe for extra power up front

G Reilly in middle might work for this game. But I think kenny and harnan starting ahead of lenehan /burke or more than likely king who after looking back at game again was quite poor.

i hope reilly does drop to midfield , taking your biggest scoring threat further away from goal will suit us fine,

I agree dawnrun that moving your best forward further away from goal generally isn't a great plan. But Reilly has generally been at his most effective making his runs from deep, where he can get a bit of space and a bit of momentum going. Since most teams pack their half back line now, it may be that he has to drift out a little further to get the room he needs. He certainly has had no problems in the past scoring freely from midfield.
My biggest worry from this game (and every other one to be honest) is will we get enough ball around midfield. We don't have a great midfield, and are lacking scrappers on the ground to get the dirty ball. If Wexford dominate the midfield, it won't matter a jot where Graham Reilly is playing becuase he won't get enough ball to make a difference

To clarify, I was actually thinking that it would be Kevin Reilly (not Graham) being moved to midfield with Menton moving to 3 and King at 6. I was aware where Menton was playing against Wicklow, just think he's better off in a more central role. For what it's worth, and for a player who hasn't played at IC level for a good while, I thought King did OK and is worth another shot at 6.

Moylagh...not sure what you're thinking, but to me we need Kevin back and centre to combat the very capable Ben Brosnan and Lee Chin...

Options are a bit thin on the ground for Meath at the minute but logic would dictate menton should play at centre back with Kenny and Harnan
at wing back with Mickey Burke possibly starting at corner back while King should revert to being a spectator.
I would have to say I would be nervous of how this Meath team will perform in Croker as I felt Monaghan destroyed us there in the league final
but sure we live in hope.

Lads and ladies,we will have our hands full on Sunday. But should win and i wouldn't mind seeing Chris O'Connor back in the fold i'd rate him ahead of Burke and King anyday..

i agree we are struggling at mid-field and are lacking a few scrappers for the break..lads like Kenny and O'Connor who i'd rather have than King,Burke and Lenihan..
we have to at least break even at mid-field on sunday..also need a massive improvement from Carroll at 11..i'd throw Reilly in as a 3rd mid-fielder with a free reign to get forward and not much defensive duties as a reg mid-fielder

"Mickey Burke possibly starting at corner back while King should revert to being a spectator"

Chris O Connor Back??

Why is it we keep on talking about these fellas. Burke was picked the last day and was poor. King started and didnt do anything wrong. Now id hope Menton would be at 6 Sunday but wanting Burke to start again defies logic a bit. Was shown up against dublin last year at corner back. Chris o connor isnt needed. plenty young backs there. o connor im afraid was tried and tested.

this is what i see mick o'dowd choosing
1. P. O'Rourke
2. D. Keoghan
3. K. Reilly
4. B. Menton ( i thought he looked comfortable in the corner back role against wicklow)
5. P. Harnan/ C. Lenihan ( could pick either here, harnan was seriously impressive when he came on in aughrim though)
6. C. King
7. S. Kenny ( straight swap for mickey burke)
8. C. Gillespie
9. B. Meade
10. P. Byrne
11. D. Carroll
12. G. Reilly
13. E. Wallace ( but he will play as a 4th half forward)
14. S. Bray
15. M. Newman

I think everyone will agree there will not be many changes..The way Dalton played in the league final and his goal was top drawer he is a definite loss..The way the backs should be for sunday---2 keoghan 3reilly 4 young or king 5 harnan 6 mento 7 lenihan or Kenny and that's what will happen..Midfield I would bring peader in as a 3 midfielder and leave reilly and Wallace with loads of space and carroll to be link man what he is good at..Newman and bray inside with reilly coming onto the space that is been left by peader ...Can anyone give a serious update on shane o rourke...Meath to win and Kildare to shock the dubs

I know 100% that Menton will be left at cornerback alongside Reilly , with chin on reilly and menton/keogan on brosnan .......

There wont be much changes i believe , only Harnan for Burke or Lenihan , Sheridan and hopefully Gilsenan for Bray ......
Damien Carroll is on the fringes also and needs a big performance , simarlarly Bray and King ......

Ive mentioned bringing Menton out to wingback because he was way off the pace against wicklow in the corner , and does not hold the defence like king did against Wicklow , he prefers to get forward , and was brilliant doing so , scoring a beautiful point .....

WHY not try him there ?

Can see this being a serious test for meath, were very weak in the half back line and I don't think Gillespie is pulling his weight in midfield....hes just not up to it,cant see too many major changes but for me mickey burke has to be dropped,he got roasted a good few times in the last few years and hes just way too slack at marking.Alot of people seem to want to drop lenihan,i agree he was very poor against wicklow but to be fair he got booked early which didn't help his confidence plus id stick with him because hes young and maybe that was just an off day, remember lads seamy kennys not getting any younger!!I was never a fan of king and I think hes going to get found out sooner rather than later but he done very little wrong the last day,id start harnan on the other wing, fancy meath to win it by 3 or 4 but there going to have to be at there best P.S donnacha tobin emigrating and davy Dalton injured are massive losses to meath defense
