Meath v Wexford

Well a good win,Mid-Field was terrible for long periods in the 1st half couldn't win alot of our own kick-outs,but it did improve and Gillespie came more into it..I don't really understand why Wallace is left so close to goal when he has so much pace, would it not be better to have him running from a deeper position..we will have our hands more than full in the Final, but we at least will have heart and a bit of belief in ourselves unlike Kildare who were totally lacking any!..its been a good year now promotion from Div 3 and in the Leinster Final..well done Mick and all the staff and players..

Need CHB position sorted as a priority.Menton has to come out of corner and play number 6.wide open down the middle at times today.

Well 3 Leinster finals in 4 yrs not so bad for a county going through a bad time. As Cian Ward said on Newstalk during the week the perfect scenario for Meath is for Dublin to waltz into a Leinster Final. Up the Royals.

Was there a reason behind Brian Meade been taken off ? I thought he was having a good game up until he went off. Great win also.

I was just thinking the same thing myself, thought he was having a good game whereas Gillespie was mostly anonymous. Half back line was better than vs. Wicklow but I'd still prefer Menton at center back myself

Firstly biggy had another great game for us. Took bray too long to get into game for my liking and missed couple of ones he'd get a few years back. But still when he got going showed glimpses of past. Midfield major problem still. King can't start v dubs. Look we keep it to respectable score and im happy enougj.
hon the royal. All year one objectives achieved. Fantastic.

Well done yesterday, lads. Meath were the better team, no excuses or sour grapes here.
You'll need to improve to trouble the dubs, but give it a lash and youd never know !! They havent been troubled this year, it would be intresting to see how they'd respond to a bit of pressure.
Best of luck.

Royaldun ! What an abject surrender to mediocracy ! First year targets achieved .!!!! This is a very very weak meath team . Graham Reilly possibly the only meath player who would make the Dublin Panel . To be fair to Newman , he tried hard from play and kept his head for the frees . Wallace not ready for this standard yet . I suspect Dublin will beat us with a much bigger margin than they beat Kildare . The comments on the forum support this ... Just 2 matches played against the minnows of the province ( Wicklow and Wexford ) and some are puffing out their chests saying targets achieved!!!
My god it's no wonder we are in the state we are in !

Thanks yelowbelly, I think the pick of the other 3 semi finalists yesterday would struggle to contain Dublin never mind Meath, when you look at what Tryone and Armagh done to teams that were competitive against Meath and Kildare it really does show that the standard of Leinster football is poor outside of Dublin. On another note amazed by the lack of support Wexford had at the game yesterday, if ye had a 1,000 people that would have been it.

Athboy gael, thats about as good as it gets for our footballers, support-wise. They are almost second-class citizens among some of our "hurling-only" gaa people !!

Good win yesterday,we have a lot of work to do in the next few years.

I think taken King off and moving Harnan there proved to be key yesterday

Great win yesterday was pleased with overall performance. Here is my rating:
1.O Rourke: 8. Solid throughout and looked comfortable with ball, kickouts were long and direct.
2.Keoghan. 7 Decent game,man kept quiet
3.Reilly.7 Tidy throughout and kept his defence on their toes
4.Menton. 6. Quiet game, did enough to pass himself, never too involved, will have to be a lot tighter next day.
5.Harnan. 7. Great display for such a young fella, was a rock when switched to CHB. Option here for the dubs game
6.King. 4. Didnt enjoy one of his better outings, taken off just at the right time I feel. Struggle to make the team next day
7.Kenny. 7. His usual self, tenacious tackling and master under a breaking ball. Justified his starting role
8&9. Gillispie and Meade. Both 6. Both were decent, again, no where near where we should be. But I for one think they are doing ok and deserve a certain amount of credit.
10.Byrne. 6. Worked very hard and got 2 scores. Will be disappointed with his man scoring. Certain to start against Dublin.
11.Carroll. 3, Far too quiet for long periods and as a CHF he created little. Surprised he wasnt taken off at HT, needs a lot of game time to get to where his standards are.
12. Graham Reilly.10. Class act, Correctly selfish on the ball, dictates the pace of the game. Walks the walk and talks the talk.
13. Wallace: 6. Lightening speed shown at times, did ok, will start next day but wont be over happy with overall game,
14. Bray: 8. Excellent second half, maybe took too long to get going, need this form from the 1st minute of the game. Game would be over against greater opposition.
15. Newman. 8. 9 points(frees). Again, excellent exhibition of free taking, his general play has improved from Wicklow game.
16. Sheridan 4. Got 5 or 6 balls did nothing with any of them, balls in were poor but a good forward makes his luck IMO.
17. Tormey. 6. Tried hard when he came in and didnt allow Wexford a clean run at it in the middle.
18. Lenihan...not on long enough to be rated
19. McMahon........not on long enough to be rated

On a side note, Brian Farrell and Mickey Burke will be disappointed not to get a run out I feel.
Think credit must go out to all defence as this Wexford forward line are very potent and sharp. Obviously the Dubs are a different level again, but I feel we can definately put up a more respectful performance.
I was disgusted with the Dublin supporters jeering Johnny Doyle kicking his frees, something that we have become accustomed to in Croke Park from the Dublin fans where I believe there is no place in GAA for.

One thing I havent seen mentioned, which I thought worth mentioning was young Andy Tormey, who replaced Brian Meade (who had a solid enough showing). I thought he was bright and sharp when he came on, he moved the ball well and competed with his man for everything, and came out on top too. (I am aware he was only on for 12mins but he also wasnt palying in his best position!!!) Apologies if this has been mentioned previously!!

Sad to say but caoimhin king has had his chance and its not working. I have posted before about young Harnan he will do a job at centre back. There made of tough stuff in that neck of the woods. We're in another Leinster final lets go into it with the old meath attitude of never say die. It's anybody's game, use our substitutes well but I don't think any of the dubs will fear big joe, big high ball didn't work on Sunday. If he had caught last one in Tormey was on his left shoulder with open space in front of him. Lets get behind our young team and give them all the support they need to win a Leinster final. Come on the royals
