Graham Geraghty - I want to remember him for the footballer he WAS

I agree with the last 2 comments. Its time to start looking forward rather than looking back. GG does give the team a big lift when he comes on but there's only so much county football one man can play before he starts to go downhill and you need to give the younger lads to see what they have got

GG was a superb player that was then this is now when a player gets on in years he gets it hard to leave it behind every dog has its day time to move on and leave to the younger guys

sorry lads but i would have to disagree that he gives the team a huge lift when comes on. not anymore. i would argue that its now the opposite. he certainly gives the crowd a lift but as for the team i dont think so. without doubt 1 of the greatest we've ever had but in my opinion he's making us a lesser team by coming on!

Absolutely.
I don't care if he gets a big roar when he comes on.
That lasts about 5 seconds.
It's what he contributes on the field that matters and I think there are other players that can contribute more.

Put it this way, surely the likes of Queeney or Farrell could make a greater impact..

Lads he was actually quite good when he came on in last 3 matches yes not at the standard he was but even a 50% gg is worth a run. It is his last year. He adds something when comes on queeny and farrell have all opportunities to start gg does not. It is nothing more than cameo that may result in a goal. Now who he replaces is the question. In my view it should have been kenny last day who was having a shocker instead of reilly who was playing exceptional. That is the call I worried about more so than his appearance.

He's finished at this level royaldunne.
No shame in that, he's one of the all time greats but all good things come to an end.
We need to move on.

royaldunne ur deleuded if u think he has anything left to offer. its a shame to be debating this cuz he was such a good player but as long as he keeps makin himself available to play people will. i think he has a responsibilty as a selector to pick the best players for meath so its up to him to come out and admit that he can no longer cut it at this level and until he does that he's lettin the team down.as was said absolutly no shame in him not being up to it any more he's 39 and owes meath football nothin,

Well I'm not been deluded. We unfortunately have no young great players coming through. I think he has virtually retired himself he was not even on bench today despite been named on program but I can tell you one thing he would have passed the ball if he was in positions bray was in. Age is not a hindrance to football brain. But ill leave it up to himself to decide we owe him that and he owes us nothing.

@ royaldunne

What do we owe him? and why? He has given and received alot from the game. GG was a great player but I feel other teams are lifted more when they see him coming on now. Better options further along the bench for sure.

royaldunne nobody is arguing that he still has the football brain but u also stillneed to have the legs which he doesnt. its not as simple as havin a football brain sure if that was the case we'd still have giles tommy dowd john mac and many more playin cuz i bet they still have their football brains.and as i said in my last post he owes meath football nothing but 4u to say meath football owes him one is outrageous! he got as much out of meath as meath got out of him. the likes of urself and a few others ar lettin ur hearts rule ur heads and ar clouded by the nostalgia of his glory days which were indeed glorious but ar in the past.hopfully he has retired himself as it the best thing for the panel.
