interesting draw. who do ye reckon will make it out of each group. id have to go with curraha & dunsany in group A, Kilmainham & Kilmainhamwood in group B, Bective & Ratoath in group C, Meath hill & don/Ash in group D. Group B and D seem straight forward, A and C could have some upsets though de_man (Meath) - Posts: 192 - 13/02/2012 21:40:18 1111226 Link 0 |
Very very soft draw for Kilmainham. They'd have to stand-out as favourites at this early stage The_Ripper (Meath) - Posts: 184 - 14/02/2012 09:45:04 1111263 Link 0 |
Skryne are in group C not Syddan. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1385 - 14/02/2012 11:18:39 1111322 Link 0 |

Curraha seem to be flying in the league so far and the new manager has settled in very well with the players i have heard, they also have one or two key players from this years Curraha/St Vincents minor team on the Junior A panel this year. Curraha seem to be a lot stronger this year than last year, AM i correct in seeing Ian McManus is back playing for them? he is a huge addition after spending the last few years playing senior up in Louth, and with the few minors coming through as well with lads like coyle and Morgan, they will be hard stopped at junior lagoreX (Meath) - Posts: 223 - 23/02/2012 17:55:43 1116693 Link 0 |
I agree, Curraha will walk it! rath_togh (Meath) - Posts: 740 - 24/02/2012 14:59:40 1117124 Link 0 |
after the first rounds of the leagues who looks to be favourite now for junior? daboy (Meath) - Posts: 56 - 31/03/2012 10:55:42 1140449 Link 0 |
If Kilmainham don't win it this year they'll be doing an injustice to themselves. They're doing very well to be Division 2 for a Junior team. Last time I saw a junior team in Division 2 it was Wolfe Tones about 10 years ago and look where they ended up!! Without a doubt, it's Kilmainham's Championship to lose. tonytookamotor (Meath) - Posts: 139 - 31/03/2012 16:01:51 1140575 Link 0 |
michael newman is a good young player Royal09 (Meath) - Posts: 157 - 31/03/2012 16:04:36 1140576 Link 0 |
tony, I could be wrong but I think Ratoath were in Division 2 for a season or two a few years back. And look where we are now. Yup, still Junior. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1385 - 31/03/2012 18:25:06 1140660 Link 0 |
Kilmainham are tipped up every year to win the Ginnity cup but fail to deliver at the crucial stages. They tend to go unbeaten until the quarters or semi finals and then get turned over. They have a big asset in Micheal Newman probably the best forward in the junior division but he cant do it all on his own. Of course playing in division 2 of the AFL can be a bonus for any junior team but it can also be demoralising if you are not able to compete in that division. They have had a dreadful start to the league three losses from three games. gaelicgab (USA) - Posts: 878 - 31/03/2012 18:47:03 1140664 Link 0 |
Curraha beat Moylagh of the pitch today and moylagh got to consolation goals towards the end as curraha were 2-10 to 0-6 up and it finished Curraha 2-10 Moylagh 2-6 BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 1013 - 31/03/2012 19:47:35 1140694 Link 0 |
Tonytookamotor, i'm fairly sure Ratoath were in division 2 in 2009, they got relegated though soon after. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1677 - 31/03/2012 20:08:33 1140720 Link 0 |

I think everyone can tell by the population and the underage success of Ratoath that they well go up Senior very soon, where as Kilmainham is an average size rural club, so I think Intermediate and Division 2 is would be their maximum. tonytookamotor (Meath) - Posts: 139 - 01/04/2012 19:12:55 1141362 Link 0 |
I wouldnt be sore sure of Ratoath getting out of Junior in the next few years never mind going senior. BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 1013 - 01/04/2012 19:58:45 1141397 Link 0 |
Yeah I'd agree. It won't be long before Ratoath are senior. The current group of u-18, u-16 players will probably take them there. It's a bit early to call the winner yet but Curraha could take the honours. seamusmac (Meath) - Posts: 379 - 01/04/2012 20:03:10 1141406 Link 0 |
